FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are typically 30 to 45 minutes for younger beginners, and an hour for adult beginners. Lessons average $35 per half hour, varying depending on the distance traveled to the student's home. There is a discount of $60 per hour lesson or for enrolling a second half hour student in the same home. Please contact me or request a quote for specific pricing information. It is important to contact me directly or request a quote as pricing is client-specific and there are many combinations of lesson arrangements and pricing options available depending on the students' needs. For example, in multi-student homes, a very young beginner (3-5) may be started as a 15-minute lesson added to their sibling's 30-minute lesson. This would be billed as one 45 minute lesson. Know someone else who may be interested in expanding their musical knowledge? Current students can also earn incentives for referring new students!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In our first few lessons, I would get to know each student and where they are currently at musically - their strengths and weaknesses and top areas of knowledge. From there we might change methods from what they are currently using or add supplemental materials for aural skills, sightreading, interactive study and other assignments beyond playing that will enhance their knowledge and enjoyment of all music. Then, I can apply the tools they already have learned (while continuing to sharpen their skill sets) to repertoire- and skill-building compositions, as well as particular pieces or types of music that they are interested in learning.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching for 10 years and have worked with a variety of age groups, styles, and experience levels. I have studied music theory, aural skills, and piano pedagogy at the collegiate level as well as having participated in professional music instructors' workshops and development courses. I am a singer/songwriter, I volunteer with and develop music programming for seniors, and perform and instruct professionally, bringing a variety of experience and knowledge to my instruction.
