Hi I’m Tim and I would love to work together! I have taught many student from age 4-60+ of all different levels on the piano, guitar, upright and electric bass. I’m grateful for my musical education and I would like to share that with my students. I got my BM (Bachelor of Music) at Oberlin Conservatory and MM at USC. I know every student learns in a different way and I tailor each lesson to that particular student’s learning style. In addition to teaching I’m also an active performer. I have played at such venues venues such as the Paris Ballroom in Las Vegas the Blue Whale, Catalinas jazz club, and Capitol Records just to name a few. I specialize in jazz, pop, r&b, rock and classical.

Tim is an excellent bass teacher and has been a pleasure to work with. He is very accommodating and makes learning the bass a true joy. I tend to have difficulty taking in too much theory at a time, which has never been a problem with Tim. He gets how I want to study, giving me enough to learn the fundamentals but keeping it fun the whole way through. A highlight of each session is when he asks "what song do you want to learn" and no matter what it is, he can reverse engineer the bassline after a quick listen. For me, this is a huge part of why I like working with Tim-- he knows that if I have fun with the instrument, I'll get better in time. I highly recommend Tim for bass lessons!

I study guitar with Tim. He's an excellent teacher! He is very knowledgable about the guitar and music. He very patient (which is important to me as I'm an adult learner) and helpful and makes my lessons fun. He always knows a technique or exercise that helps me improve my playing. I would highly recommend Tim.

Tim was a great Piano teacher to our kids. He is patient and easy going. He even rewarded them with short Pokemon and other theme songs to learn on the Piano, after their lessons.

My experience has been amazing. I’ve always felt comfortable and not embarrassed of the level I am at when I’m around him. It’s great how he doesn’t make it known that he’s more advanced! I’ve always walked into rehearsals and private lessons where everyone always tries to show off their skills/chops, it makes me feel discouraged. Not with Tim Fenton, he’s very good at reading where you are as a musician and his responsiveness to that is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Tim, is an amazing Bass teacher. I started off as solely an electric bass player. Through lessons with Tim, I was thought the fundamentals of upright bass as well as lessons on how to better my electric bass playing. He is a very knowledgeable musician that can give you pointers and exercises on how to better your overall musicality. I recommend Tim to the fullest.
