I cannot say enough good things about Tom from Ironclad Renovation. I originally contacted him because I needed someone to disassemble and reassemble a brand-new bed that had been incorrectly assembled the day before. He responded to my request within about three minutes, called me immediately when I asked, and even though he lives about an hour and a half away, he offered to come that same day—knowing he would be dealing with traffic.
From the moment he arrived, I was incredibly impressed. Tom was professional, pleasant, articulate, clean, extremely thorough, and came completely prepared with the tools he needed. He worked efficiently without ever rushing, and his attention to detail was exceptional.
What impressed me most was that he didn't simply look at the bed and tell me it needed a few missing screws. He carefully examined the entire assembly and discovered numerous problems left by the two people who had assembled it the previous day: eight screws were missing, parts had been installed incorrectly or backwards, and there was damage to both the wood and hardware. He also explained why replacing all of the damaged hardware—not only the missing screws—was important so the bed would remain secure and could be safely disassembled and reassembled again in the future.
Tom went far beyond what I expected. He made two videos documenting the problems and provided me with several detailed paragraphs explaining exactly what had been done incorrectly and what needed to be replaced. I was able to send all of this directly to the bed company as documentation, which was enormously helpful in getting the situation corrected and the costs covered.
We now have to wait for the company to send the replacement hardware, and Tom will be coming back to finish the job properly. He has even checked in with me since his visit.
It is rare to find someone who combines this level of knowledge, professionalism, responsiveness, attention to detail, and genuine concern about doing a job correctly. I feel extremely fortunate that Tom responded to my request. I would absolutely recommend him and Ironclad Renovation to anyone looking for someone dependable, meticulous, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Five stars without hesitation.

Tom was professional and overall, a nice guy. It turned out the piece of furniture I had was completely defective, but Tom really tried his best to make it work. I would hire him again without hesitation for any future projects.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing depends on the size of the job, site conditions, materials involved, and the time needed to complete the work properly. I always try to give fair and clear estimates upfront. For smaller jobs, I may have a minimum service charge, and for larger projects I can provide a more detailed quote after reviewing photos or seeing the space.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I like to understand exactly what the customer needs done. I usually ask for photos, measurements, or a short description of the project so I can give an accurate estimate. Once everything is clear, we schedule a time that works, I arrive prepared, complete the work carefully, and make sure the customer is happy with the final result before leaving.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have nearly 15 years of hands-on experience in construction, cabinet work, and handyman services, handling projects from start to finish. My background includes everything from basic repairs and assembly to full kitchen installations, cabinet systems, wall mounting, and finishing details. I’ve worked with IKEA, Wren, and other cabinet systems, and I’ve also received training through IKEA partner installation work. Over the years, I’ve learned how to manage the whole process from A to Z, solve problems on-site, and make sure the final result is clean, safe, and done properly.
