Introduction: Growing up I was lucky enough to be able to study with one of the great cello pedagogues of New York City. Upon finishing a lesson, I would exit her studio and wait by the elevators, stranded with this substantial sense that I just had to share what I newly learned and experienced with others. In later years, I became fortunate enough to study with other great cellists, from all over the world. I would love nothing more than the opportunity to pass down not only the knowledge, but the inspiration these cellists have conferred on me. I have over 10 years of experience teaching cello to students of all ages. While I have a curriculum I use as a guideline, I understand that all students are different and I mold my teaching methods as such. I also specialize in audition/competition prep and practice techniques.

We were able to meet with Fred in person for an introduction lesson, during which we saw how dedicated and passionate he is about music and his students. This energy was not diminished at all when we began regular lessons on Zoom. I am so glad to find this wonderful teacher, and excited to see how the cello playing progresses under his expert guidance.

I live in Olympia, WA and during these crazy times of Covid 19, Fred gave me lessons over Skype and it was wonderful. Fred is very nice and you can tell he cares about the work that he does and has a passion for cello. He is also a fun teacher to have and makes the material very accessible. Would highly recommend Fred as a teacher!

Learning to play the cello with Fred has been great. We've been working together for several months now, meeting weekly for private lessons. I'm a complete novice (if you don't count middle school choir), and Fred has helped me learn the basics of cello and reading music. He's very patient, has a good sense of humor, and manages to strike the right balance between being focused and easy going. Our lessons are engaging. Fred is very sensitive to my progress and gives helpful tips and feedback when we meet. He also has a good knowledge of resources--easy pieces of music and exercises--that help me practice new skills without getting too frustrated during the time between lessons. He's always on-time and is flexible with scheduling, should something come up. I would highly recommend working with him!

Fred has been giving my daughter Cello lessons for 2 years. She has shown a significant amount of growth in playing the instrument. Fred is patient and professional, he gets along very well with my daughter. She respects him and also values him. She is always looking forward to the next lesson. My daughter played in a school talent show shortly after a couple of months of lessons and did an amazing job. I strongly recommend taking lessons with Fred.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Bachelor's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. I have over 10 years of experience teaching students of all ages, ranging from 4 years of age to adults.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I first began playing cello in elementary school. My mother was a pianist and she had me and my brothers pick up instruments at an early age. It wasn't until high school though that I fell in love with music. I continued my training in college at the Manhattan School of Music where I earned a degree in Cello Performance and subsequently gained experience playing in professional orchestras in and around New York City.
