Introduction: Reya is one half of RSSR Editing, a custom editing service with two experienced editors based in New York and New England. RSSR provides a full range of editing services, from quick copy edits of web content and short pieces to in-depth, personalized editing of longform and manuscript-length work. Our goal is to make sure that your thoughts are reflected clearly on the page and rendered in a style that is unmistakably yours. We offer prompt service, a collaborative approach to editing, and pricing packages to fit your budget. We are able to provide in-person consultation for clients located in Boston/Providence, New York City, and, occasionally, the Bay Area. That said, we are millennials, so most of our work takes place on hard drives, through Microsoft and Adobe programs, and in the cloud.

Reya helped me with editing my personal statement which I wrote to apply to colleges in England. Not only was she very thorough in making sure that the personal statement met the guidelines provided by the colleges, she took the time to make sure it was a well structured, focused, and well written while keeping the personal statement personal. She kept the application deadline in mind, and was able to have a final copy edited when I needed it. She even took the time to answer a question on a Sunday. I would highly recommend Reya as an editor, and would love to work with her again. It was a great pleasure.

Reya Sehgal assisted me with an editing job for my upcoming book. Her assistance with editing my prose and placement of passages really made my book flow and come to life. She is extremely professional and diligent. I was impressed by her ability to edit my work, but also maintain the integrity of my own voice while doing so. I will definitely be hiring her for future projects!

I merely engaged in chat and was impressed with whomever I was chatting with. However, the cost is far too much for me and my co-authors. Even $100.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing is flexible yet fair. Depending on the job, I price my work by hour, by page, or by project. Contact me and we can negotiate a reasonable rate.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I began my career as an editor in high school, where I worked as Associate Editor/Copy Editor for our art and literary magazine. Since then, I have helped countless friends and clients edit essays, theses, blog posts, and more. I delight in fixing grammatical errors, smoothing out awkward sentences, and giving writers constructive feedback to help them hone their craft. Editing allows me to blend my technical skills with my creativity, and helps me develop my own voice as an artist and writer.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently edited "Narrating Normal: Arabs, Queers, Neoliberal Spectatorship," a Performance Studies dissertation for a PhD candidate at UC Berkeley. The work was over 250 pages long with more than 500 footnotes, an extensive media bibliography, and images.
