FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I'm open to negotiating a price that works for both parties.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically it begins with getting to know the client/student and hearing from their perspective what is being asked of in an assignment/speech/essay etc. or what his/her strengths and weaknesses are as a student. As a writer/editor/storyteller, my focus is clarity, engagement, depth and honesty. As with my own narratives or speeches, my goal is first to thoroughly understand the story or assignment and locate a unique angle into it. Then distinctly portray that angle in an original and thought-provoking way. With personal speeches (wedding, graduation etc) I try to help clients describe their loved ones in ways those people wouldn't think to describe themselves. This is what I consider to be the definition of thoughtful and can be applied to every single type of literary work. As a tutor, I believe self awareness is extremely important and I often ask my students to really think about what they can do better, where they get confused etc. Identify the specifics of the problem. Then we can begin working on the task at hand. Usually, that begins with a full understanding of what the task is. When I was in school my father would always say "understand what is being asked of you" and "answer the question." It's great advice and minimizes confusion that can often waste time. I carry this with me every day.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA degree in Rhetoric and Communications with a minor in Theater from the University of Richmond. I have been a professional writer for eight years.
