Introduction: I am a guitarist, composer and educator with a music degree from Berklee College of Music. I have performed all over the country and am currently pursuing my masters degree in Jazz Performance from Hunter College. I teach students aged 10 and up and welcome all levels of experience from total beginner to more advanced players. My focus is teaching the language of music through songs. We will focus on melody, different types of chords, scales and how they relate to a given song, improvisation concepts and technique. I teach from my home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn as well as virtually.

Working with Ben has been such a pleasure. I'm a beginner to guitar and he is really great at introducing a digestible amount of concepts in each lesson. The pacing of the lessons is great and I always come out of them feeling like I learned something and know what to tackle next. Highly recommend!

Ben's expertise on the guitar is unquestionable, and on top of that, he is also very flexible and can quickly adapt and pivot his lessons to suit your specific needs and interests on the instrument. When I sat down with him initially, I told him exactly how I wanted to structure our lessons, and he was fully prepared with examples from his own music tastes to supplement my own examples of what/how I wanted to play. I specifically wanted to focus on funk, blues, and jazz, through the lens of playing "in the pocket", and so we focused a lot on rhythm comps, and chord progressions that highlight each of those genres.
