FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I operate on an hourly fee, with different price points and minimum-hourly bookings, depending on the job. Differences in cost arise from factors including: whether the shoot is booked at my studio or on location; whether travel expenses will apply for the shoot; if additional equipment will be required to do the shoot; if an assistant or stylist will need to be hired for the shoot; how many final shots are desired by the client; and what the final use of the photos will be for. Please note that the photography fee is based on: an hourly rate for the photographer, the cost of using or renting camera/lighting/computer/software equipment, liability insurance, administrative tasks related to booking and billing shoots, and local travel. A separate retouching fee covers the time devoted to processing, editing, retouching, organizing, and delivering final images.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I receive requests and information for a shoot, and if I need more information from a Client in order to give an estimate, I ask for that first. I then send an estimate to Clients within 24-48 hours. Clients review the estimate, ask any questions, and provide any changes to the specs. If Client decides to book me for a shoot, I schedule about a week in advance, at minimum, and any shoots lasting less than 4 hours will be scheduled on days that other similar, short shoots are taking place. For larger projects, Clients will receive a contract, and will sign off on the contract before we book the shoot.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my BFA from Emerson College in creative writing and filmmaking. I then did a 2-year filmmaking program at The Boston Film & Video Foundation, and took individual photography classes at New England School of Photography and Pratt Institute of Art. I have made short films, worked on the staff of independent and commercial films, and worked as a photographer in NY since 2004.
