About
**Please read before messaging: I currently teach students across the country remotely via Zoom OR in-person near Park Slope, Brooklyn. I do not travel to my students for lessons unless they live within a few miles of my studio! Jack Armbrust is a sought-after multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and arranger based in Brooklyn, NY. Jack takes pride in his ability to navigate seamlessly between musical styles & genres, and applies this musical perspective in his instructional methods. Having been a music educator for over a decade, Jack helps students of all ages learn how to make their creative practice the most meaningful time of day. He teaches lessons in piano, keyboards, music theory, as well as integrating songwriting and compositional approaches in his instruction. Students can expect a tailored experience in lessons, dependent on identifying their unique musical voice. This can include a combination of improvisational and structured materials, exercises in ear training and harmony, as well as discussions about music-making and music philosophy. From Jack’s personal studio to premier music academies across Chicago, Nashville, and New York, his teaching philosophy remains the same: to cultivate a space of creativity, self-expression, and encouragement in the musical arts. While he isn’t teaching, Jack is a working musician and in-demand session player. He frequently performs and records with artists in New York City spanning numerous genres including jazz, RnB, folk, and pop. Though his home instrument remains the piano, his personal musical practice includes work as a guitarist, vocalist, producer, and musical director. Jack's foundation is built upon each artistic expression as an expression of humanity, and he believes that channeling humanity through music is not only invaluable, but imperative. He is committed to surfacing and highlighting the innate beauty that each artist-soul has to offer. Jack received his Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music from Belmont University in Nashville, TN, where he studied classical and commercial styles with decorated pianists & educators Dr. Anthony Belfiglio and Dr. Robert Marler of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Jack for several months now and she absolutely loves it. Jack is very patient, he always takes a few minutes to connect with her and get acquainted before diving in. She takes the lessons virtually which I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first but I am so impressed with her progress. She is truly learning to read music which is wonderful and further is being taught rhythm and how to play not just by reading notes but by understanding them. Jack has a very pleasant demeanor and is a wonderful teacher. I would highly recommend lessons with him!
