FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Performing: Rates vary depending on the location, equipment needs, personnel, and type of event. Contact me and we can get a conversation going about a concert that will suit your event and budget! Teaching: Generally, I charge $50/hour, but I do give significant scholarships to eager, qualified students who are not able to pay the full price.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Performing: Typically, the lead up to a private performance consists of a whole lot of emails and phone calls. We establish the equipment needed, the size of the event, the time frame, the actual content to be performed, etc. Its my job to take care of the details so you can get busy getting excited for the event! Teaching: For first lessons, I ask my new students to come ready to sing one or two songs of any genre, whatever they feel most comfortable with. Everyone is a little nervous at first, but once we get singing its hard not to open up! Any given lesson will usually consist of focused work in rhythm, breathing, ear training, listening, composing, improvising, etc. depending on the student's interests and levels. From week to week, we evaluate what the student's goals are, and how we should move forward together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's in Vocal Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory, considered one of the most prestigious music institutions in the country, especially in my field. That being said, my most important qualification is my performance and bandleader experience! If you are considering hiring me, come see my band play and then make up your mind! :)
