FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $30 for the first lesson and I ask for a $15 deposit to secure your spot. If you are not satisfied with your first lesson for whatever reason and you do not wish to continue taking lessons, I will offer you a full refund. For lessons thereafter, I charge $50 for a 45 minute lesson for adults and $40 for a 45 minute lesson for children 17 and younger. I do not train children younger than 10 years old.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask that all new students prepare one song of their choice that they are comfortable singing for the first lesson. I will listen to the student sing the song and provide feedback. We will then discuss goals and work on breathing techniques. Breathing is the foundation of all singing, and especially important in Bel Canto. Most teachers will tell you to "breathe from the diaphragm," without telling you how to properly "breathe from the diaphragm". I will provide a step by step method to effectively breathe in a way that is healthy and sustainable for the voice. When you learn how to breathe properly, you will be surprised by how much your voice instantly improves. During the first lesson, students can also ask any questions they have. After getting a better understanding of the students' voice type and goals, I will create a curriculum for us to follow as we continue our lessons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained classically for 6 years and have studied Bel Canto technique for 2.5 years. My training has enabled me to have a career as a performing/recording musician in NYC for the past 4 years.
