FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing Education is one of the most important things for being a Personal Trainer. Not only is it required for us to keep professional certifications it is necessary for us to stay up to date in the field. From reading journals, doing home study courses, going to conferences and seminars and even training with other trainers, there is constant growth. I also continue my education by studying for new certifications.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I always recommend for clients to take the time to meet your trainer face to face and have them run you through a simple workout. It's very important for you to 'click' with your trainer. Most personal training studios will offer a free session and some have intro packages where you buy a couple sessions to make sure you are getting what you want. Take advantage of these opportunities to make sure you are comfortable and your needs are being met. No contract studios are usually the best option for personal training.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I wish people knew the differences between personal training certifications and the importance of working with a trainer who has high credentialing and experience with various populations. Anyone can get a certification off the internet and say they are a certified personal trainer, but having a certification in the top five really says something about that trainer. It shows how important it is for that trainer to be a professional in the field.
