Todd was a great help on building my website. I have very little knowledge of web design and he took the ideas and ran with it and made it work and it is awesome. Thank you Todd Moss for everything

Martine and I worked closely on a number of graphic design projects for my book and a number of art history essays. Not only was her work of exceptional quality, which was noted in reviews of the book, but working with her was an extraordinary experience. With admirable patience and professionalism, she was able to visualize my ideas to perfection as we tinkered and tweaked many times over, producing results of which we were equally proud. I have recommended her to colleagues who were as delighted as I. Naming her design studio "Barnaby Creative" truly sums up the person and the process.

Creative Media Enterprises created the website and branding for my small business. Sophia's patience, attention to detail and design sense were crucial during the process and clearly visible in the resulting high quality, clean-lined finished products. Highly recommended.

Working with the team at Kwibo was an absolute pleasure. I am the owner of a historic property turned B&B. We desired something simple, elegant and informative to send our renters to online so they could learn about the property and see rooms and rates. I had several meetings with the owner to discuss the project. He was very thorough in his approach...we discussed the design, layout and how the site would operate. I felt in good hands from the start. The final product fully exceeded my expectations. Everything was perfect and looked AMAZING. I feel very confident in the prices I charge now. I cannot thank you guys enough for the awesome job. Cheers!

We are design professionals in the architectural and engineering services involving small commercial to large private project and everything in between.

My work stands out from others because I listen to my clients. I always give 110% on designing projects for you. What you pay for is what you're going to receive as final product. What I like most about my job is meeting new clients. I love designing logos and business cards for companies so I love to see what kind of businesses I receive and love the challenge of what they ask for, sometimes their funny and sometimes I don't understand why they chose to have that design, but it's not my business. My business is to make you happy and overly satisfied that your business looks amazing!

I am a web designer, graphic designer and print media designer. My services are low cost and highly reliable. I specialize in custom designing websites and template redesigning using the existing program for eCommerce sites.

As a designer, I work hard to make sure that I am bringing my best to your design problem, and working with you to create a solution that is both aesthetically pleasing, and useful. I don't want anyone coming away from working with me wishing that something went a different way. Maintaining open lines of communication is very important to me. If we finished the project 2 weeks ago and you think of something we should change or add, I want to help bring the project to what you see as finished, not what I think is done. Design should work for a business, strengthening an already great idea for something new. It is an amazing thing to be able to start a new business. At the end of the day, I want to help people. If designing a logo for a small business that is just starting helps them to be taken more seriously, and respected in their community, that is what I want to be able to do.

We offer the following design services: * websites * logos * letterhead * brochures * newsletters * catalogs * typography * trade show * large format graphics * video editing * photography * photo manipulation * sound and music editing We use the following programs: * Dreamweaver * InDesign * Photoshop * Illustrator * Flash * Premier * Sony Vegas * Adobe Sound Forge * Microsoft Office

I am a stay-at-home mom who has an experience in many things, from planning and editing to designing! I like to keep things interesting and work on different kinds of projects.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

  • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
  • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
  • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

What do you look for in a web design company?

The web design company you choose must be able to interpret your company’s mission and identity and turn it into an appealing website that connects with potential customers. They must help you reach your target audience and meet your business goals. A web design agency should have on staff both talented web designers, with fresh ideas and extensive technical and creative skills, and a marketing team that knows how to drive traffic to your site, encourage visitor engagement, and convert visitors into customers. Web designers should be able to build in search optimization and integrate your site with a content management system and e-commerce tools. Look, too, for a website design company that understands responsive design and can optimize your website for mobile devices and desktop browsers. The right web design company understand current design and website trends, has experience building sites in a variety of industries (not just yours), and has an expansive portfolio of live websites. Finally, don’t simply hire the cheapest bidder — in web design, as in all things, you get what you pay for.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
