Christine Stratakos is a delight. She helped train my extremely stubborn mini dachshund puppy. Thanks to Christine my dog learned the basic of puppy training sit, come, etc. Not only that but when we expressed our concern that the puppy showed fear towards other dogs she accompanied us to the dog park to help in socializing the dog. Christine is a great trainer and all around good person

I went on vacation for two weeks and I didn't want to expose my cat to a boarding service. I contacted happy mutts cozy kitty services to come to my house to feed, water my cat and water the houseplants several days a week. When we got home the house was locked up and the cat and plants were happy and healthy. I would definitely recommend Christine, she is a responsible and trustworthy pet sitter. Her service was considerably less expensive than a kennel. I plan on using her service again when I go on vacation!

Kelsey has been caring for my pets for several years. It is very comforting knowing she is in charge while I am away. She has no problems dealing with special dietary needs and has even spent extra time brushing and playing with my two Cats. Returning home to find clean litter boxes and well adjusted pets really helps lessen the guilt of having to leave them behind. I would highly recommend Kelzey to anyone that needs to feel assured their animals are cared for and loved the way you would yourself.

Best house/pet sitter ever! She went above and beyond in caring for our home and 2 cats. Our cats always hide from strangers, most sitters or visitors never see them. Not only did she know how to win them over, they actually sat with her. Truly a cat whisperer. I came home to happy cats and my disorganized home cleaner than I left it. She also sent texts and photos of the cats to update their interactions with her. What a joy and relief from previous experiences.

I do not have only one rate for animals. I believe that every animal should have the best care, so I set up a side fund for people who cannot afford my standard rate.

I am honest, hardworking, dependable and a clean person with references. I am looking to help people who love their pets, but can't take them when they travel. I am available to stay with your pet so they are not lonely. I will walk them, brush them, feed and water them. Please give me a chance, and you won't be sorry.

I love animals, and I am willing to do anything to keep them up and ready to have a good home and to make sure they have a good environment.

I invite your pet into my home while you are away, or I will stay with them in your home, depending on your needs! I am a licensed veterinary technician, so medication are no problem either. Physical rehabilitation services are available.

I love dogs and would love to meet yours! I have worked for the SPCA in Ithaca, walking, training, and socializing with dogs. It was a great experience and am looking forward to meeting and playing with new dog friends!

I clean houses, house-sit, and sit for pets. I recently graduated from the 1st animal science program where we did professional dog grooming, animal care, and basic vet skills like giving injections, applying bandages and all those kinds of stuff.

I am young, but I love pets. I own two ferrets, two cats and two dogs actually, and I love them all. I'm really good with any kinds of animal, and I love to get to know the animal too. I am just looking to do this over the summer and weekends or when I'm able to pet sit, etc.

I can take care of your pets or walk them. I have two cats. I had one dog in the past, so I have experience with animals.

We are providers of pet care with a home-based sensibility. We have been in business for over a decade.

I have four years of experience in working with dogs and have foundations in dog training. I have taught puppy classes starting from ages between eight and 20 weeks old. I can travel within a reasonable distance and can have some pets at my place if I am pet sitting.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
