Molding or baseboards,
My boyfriend and I recently moved to the Rochester area from Albany and purchased a house in February. Not being from the area we did not know a good handyman so we thought we would try thumbtack and use advice from local referrals. We were looking to install a new composite sink and faucet in our kitchen and posted an add under plumbing, within a couple hours we had a response from Jeff. We purchased the sink and set up a time for him to come to our house and install it. It was a flawless process and the sink looks wonderful. Being new to our home we had several filters in the basement connected to our kitchen sink and he removed them for us, significantly increasing our water pressure. We have scheduled him to come back to our house to install a backsplash in our kitchen and I am sure his attention to detail will be evident. I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone in the area.Nov 5, 2013Verified
Will never use Thumbtack again. After waiting 5 months to be scheduled and put off, I had the work done by another service that actually set a date and showed up.Sep 12, 2014VerifiedRx Remodeling & Construction, Inc.'s reply
Bill was fairly close on the timeline, although some facts were not included in the "REVIEW". We agreed on an appointment day/time and we met. Shortly after our appointment I sent Bill an estimate for the work he wished to have completed for his home which he accepted, although there was never a signed and dated contract. I normally do not ask for a signed contract if I know there will be a more than normal waiting period before a new project can begin. Bill relayed to me that some items needed to be ordered which he did and there were some items that were to be installed prior to my starting the project for his home which also were completed. When Bill contacted me to inform me that the items were delivered and he wished to confirm a start date I stated to him that I would call him next week to see if we could set a start date. Like most remodeling and construction projects I had several unforeseen issues with two projects I was working on as well as homeowner changes to the original designs which obviously creates a nightmare to try and set start dates for other projects. I also had two other signed contracts for projects that were to start prior to Bill's, and these homeowners have already been patiently waiting for almost two months. Several vacations also played a part in the ability to schedule projects properly this summer. In my last contact with Bill he asked if I still planned to do his project and I said yes sir. He said to let him know when we could schedule the work and since I have still not completed the two projects that were started prior to his was to start I did not set a date. Bill's review does not mention my name or business name, only Thumbtack. Bill's review seems to be directed at Thumbtack but since it is posted in my profile it will undoubtedly do harm to my reputation and possible future business as well as that of Thumbtack. I can understand the frustration that some homeowners have while waiting as well as frustration during the remodeling process. I feel that the review posted by Bill is unfair towards me. Of the few reviews I have in my profile on this site and from previous years customers projects I have nothing remotely like the one left by Bill. I believe the reviews shown below as well as my previous years customers' show exactly what type of person I am and my company's work performance and ethics. Jeff T
I needed some vinyl siding replaced, a new door hung and new aluminum trim installed. All new materials matched perfectly and were installed flawlessly with great attention to detail. I will definitely refer Thomas Renovations to family and friends.Nov 2, 2013Verified
We were very satisfied with Jeff's job. He looked over the job, gave us a fair estimate that included all we wanted, not only demolishing a shed but moving all the debris. He was pleasant to work with and did the job effectively and left the site well cleaned up. Thank you Jeff.Nov 18, 2013Verified

- What types of customers have you worked with?We do all types of building and remodeling, so there are not any most common types of jobs to describe. We may do small handyman work one week and then start a major remodeling project such as a room addition, new garage or completely new kitchen or bath.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?If you are just looking for the lowest price then you are doing a disservice to yourself. All companies will supply estimates at different dollar amounts. Some companies have large overheads and sales people they have to compensate. Sometimes there are reasons for low prices. Some people are not good sales people but very good at their craft/service for their respective listing. Its not always about the money. The finished product should always be number one along with customer satisfaction. The money will follow with the quality work.
