My dog is 13 years old and we couldn't have had a better dog groomer that was sensitive to the needs of our golden retriever. We will call her back again soon and look forward to the appointment.

Christine Stratakos is a delight. She helped train my extremely stubborn mini dachshund puppy. Thanks to Christine my dog learned the basic of puppy training sit, come, etc. Not only that but when we expressed our concern that the puppy showed fear towards other dogs she accompanied us to the dog park to help in socializing the dog. Christine is a great trainer and all around good person

This was my first time using Kelzey's Affordable Animal Care, and it will not be my last. Kelzey went above and beyond to ensure that my 3 dogs were safe, exercised and well-loved while I was away. She spent a great deal of time with them and kept in frequent contact with me, through text messages and pictures, while I was away. It was great to see, first hand, that my dogs were happy and comfortable. Kelsey took the time before my trip to meet with me and my dogs so we where both able to ask and answer each other's questions. She was very thorough and her love for animals was readily apparent. I felt comfortable with her very quickly, and my dogs did too! Upon arrival home, the dogs were relaxed and the house was in order. I had no messes or crazy stressed dogs to deal with. It was such a relief to come home like that! I would highly recommend Kelzey to anyone who loves their animals, hates to leave them and is in need of someone wonderful and highly skilled to love and care for your furry family member. - J. Dog' Gone workout is a great atmosphere for dogs to socialize and play. They have plenty of room to run around and exercise. Delia is amazing with the dogs and she is a great trainer. I have been brining my dog Zeus there for several months now and his behavior has improved significantly.

Well, I always try to see myself as one of the dogs to see where they're coming from, and what I mean is having fun with them and making sure they have what they need. Plus, I'm great with animals, but I only work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Thank you.

I've been raised around dogs my whole life. I love all sorts of animals. Your animals well being is my top priority. I love helping people out and getting to be around animals:) I absolutely love animals. I've had dogs around me ever since I was born. All kinds of dogs. I love walking and it's just more enjoyable with a animal friend. I'm open to taking care of any animals, so far I've only have had experience with dogs, cats, and 2 parakeets.

Hello, I work through (see website link to book) I'm Jessica and my pups' names are Nova (3 year old Dalmatian) and Maya (4 month old Rottie/Fox Hound mix). I have the energy, passion, and knowledge to keep up with and care for your playful pup. We have a 3 acre yard perfect for adventures, and we will be constantly adding dog friendly yard features for a more enriched play area. Rainy or cold outside? Not a problem here, We have a giant garage made for play time! ( see video to see pups playing in the space ) Every dog can be a lap dog here, Nova certainty is! Unless a client specifies no furniture, we welcome your pup to join us on the couch for nap times. Our cat Katie might also say hello, she is great with other dogs but does get intimated by large dogs for about an hour or so until they settle in. Our electric blue crayfish Clarance and our other fish tanks have proven to be great pup tv. I am home 24/7 so there is always time for playing, walks, exciting games, practicing tricks and we have a lot of things to sniff and explore! Our home is only cleaned with pet friendly products:) We aim for comfortable canines and work with your pup to make their stay with us fun, cozy, and entertaining. My pup Nova is three years old and he plays great with all age groups and sizes. He has tons of energy, however from your 8 week old puppy to your five pound Min Pin he is exceedingly gentle and loving. Maya is a well mannered 3 month old. She is a Fox Hound/Rottie mix who is enjoying socializing with new friends. She is doing fabulously with play time manners and is a sturdy puppy (30lbs!) . Maya also knows to get out of the way when play time gets overwhelming. We have the space to separate pups when they need a break.

I do not have only one rate for animals. I believe that every animal should have the best care, so I set up a side fund for people who cannot afford my standard rate. I love meeting new pets. I hope to become a veterinarian, so my work here helps me understand more breeds and species.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
