I had an agreement with this ‘person’ (he is not a contractor, not even by a mile). He also clearly has no experience doing anything “handy” which was evident by his quality of work and has terrible attitude and ownership of his work.
The job was to make sure my basement was supported so that my floor wouldn’t creak.
Because I had gotten prior structural jobs done in agreement I had a sense of how much it costed. He quoted exorbitant prices to begin with and when I negotiated he said ok without hinting that he will simply not do a fair job and consequently make me feel cheated. I followed up for over a month very politely and every week he said he will come to fix the job and he wouldn’t. He started lying that he visited and I wasn’t home (when In fact I was) It got to a point where is started getting disrespectful, how much time should I wait and keep explaining the problem. Im also attaching photos of the job he did. This man is not a contractor and clearly doesn’t have 27years of experience he claims to have.
I couldn’t immediately check his quality of work since he came on a working day and it was a crawl space, so I was only able to verify the next day. He did not fulfill his contract. I trusted him so paid him all the money he said he will come back if I have any issues. But her never did.
Furthermore, When I think back to when I hired him- I asked for references and he gave me 1 number which I now believe is a member of his family. Even the 1 review he has here was given by his family. I hired him because he talked and seemed like a genuine guy, but seemed like I failed to judge him.
BEWARE. Save your hard earned money for other real contractors.
