FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to speak over the phone or FaceTime/Skype to start off. I always start off by asking what sort of position their looking for and what their job seeking experience has been like so far. If they have any concerns (lack of experience, gaps in employment, etc.) I try to discuss that and provide reassurance. Then we have a conversation about their employment and education history, as well as their skills. I ask a lot of questions to really pull out the true experience of each point. I then ask about the “vibe” the client would like their resume to have. Do they want to wow the manager? Do they want to seem different from other applicants? After the phone call, the completed resume is done in under a week (usually 2-3 days). I then follow up to check in about if the client would like to speak again over the phone while reviewing the resume for any changes or if they’d like to review on their own. Then I make any changes that same day and send it over!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my Masters in Social Work from Columbia. I have been the Economic Empowerment Supervisor at my agency for two years and have coached numerous people from all points in their careers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My title at my full-time position is Economic Empowerment Supervisor. This position has gone beyond just revising resumes, but instead look at the entire person to really coach and guide them as they seek economic advancement in their lives.
