I’ve taken lessons from several instructors before, and none of them even come close! Beyond his truly incredible virtuoso-level playing, Izzy has the ear and musical understanding of a true master. What really sets him apart as a teacher, however, is his ability to break down extremely complex musical ideas into manageable pieces. Izzy does not overwhelm you with theory or technique; he blends the two together seamlessly. The moment that you get some sick riffs under your fingers, you realize you've also learned where the notes live on the guitar. Even as an adult learner, I feel confident progressing with him because he creates a learning environment where improvement feels achievable and exciting. I figured I would miss the in person lessons but virtual has been amazing and now I know they can be great if done well- which he does. And it's also nice to not have to leave the house! We have a shared Dropbox folder. He sends files to see and read and even recordings to practice along with in between lessons. Also, a couple years ago, I wanted to shift to guitar and so we did and it was seamless. He took much of what I learned on ukulele and used it to help me understand the guitar better. I still take lessons with Ian to this day and I couldn't recommend him more!"See more
