Patrick Micheal Wickham is the master, period. I have taken vocals from so many coaches who just tell you what to do, but this is the first time in my life I know how to do it! I have learned so much more in four lessons than in four years with those fools. To my RBGirls out there-stop lettin people tell you that only an R&B coach can teach you that way! That's what I thought until I sat down with a real technician. It's about the voice and the BODY, not about the sound. Two lessons and you'll see.
I am looking forward to continuing music lessons with David. I met him for the first time this week. I know that he will be able to achieve my goals. I was looking for a teacher that specifically can teach sight singing. I am more than confident that I'll be sight singing very soon. David is obviously is genuinely passionate about teaching. It is a career for him not just something done here and there. I'm lucky to have met him.
Bass lessons with Dom are amazing! He takes great care to patiently teach me music theory. His lessons are well-paced and informative. He is encouraging, skilled, and thorough. Learning from a guitar player as skilled as Dom is truly a dream. I can't wait for the day we will truly start jamming together!
I have been working with David as a bass teacher for a couple of months now to re-develop my skills and he has been a fantastic instructor. David has a great ability to read where you are in your development and come up with fun and relevant lessons to advance your development. He clearly has a deep knowledge of music theory but makes his lessons in theory much more interesting than any I've ever had and has me look forward to learning every week. David has made learning bass fun and I'd highly recommend him.
Michelle is the piano teacher I wished for when I was a kid! Michelle is patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. One of the things my 7-year-old loves most about Michelle is that she lets her explore her musical creative side. Michelle has guided my daughter in composing her own music, tackling tough songs of her own choosing and in introducing instruments like the harmonica into her selections. Michelle is always upbeat and full of positive energy and as a result my daughter loves her music lessons.
I came to Christine after not singing for 5 years. I had previously taken classical voice lessons in high school and singing in choir. She taught me basic singing technique by explaining why I needed the keep larynx down and demonstrating proper breathing. She is extremely kind, helpful and flexible and has empowered me to feel much more confident in my singing and also focus on important details such as phrasing, diction and pronunciation. She has also challenged me with repertoire that is fun to sing and appropriate for my voice and age. I am excited to see how my voice continues to improve with her guidance.
Jimi is an amazing teacher. His versatility and depth of knowledge, not only of guitar, but of music theory make his style of instruction completely tailored to the interests of student. Jimi is a musician in his heart and his passion for music is tempered only by his intense humanity. There are no drills, there's no yelling. There's only an immersion in music and true scaffolding of skills. Additionally, you'll find yourself laughing and learning all the same in a way that breeds a true life long love of playing. My lessons with Jimi added a dimension to my life in knowing and understanding music that is truly like a 6th sense. He enablers me to shear the world in ways I never would have otherwise. Anyone would be well served to take lessons with him--or just to talk about music with him.
working with sean was a great experience. as a beginner adult student, he was always very patient with me and understanding of my busy schedule. i found his lessons to be challenging and informative while at the same time being really fun. he never made learning piano feel like a chore. i learned a lot, not just how to play the piano, but also about music theory--the guy reall knows his stuff! i'd highly recommend sean to anyone at any level and was sad to find out he was leaving the bay area.
Francis is very professional. His piano lessons are very tailored and engaging. I would highly recommend.
Josh is an awesome instructor! Everything we worked on was based off of what I wanted to learn. He sequenced everything so I could be challenged and have stuff to work on but wasn't overwhelmed. He really knows his stuff, teaching me the technique of how to pick properly and the basics of music theory. My soloing sounded way better after only a few sessions! Josh is a great person and is very knowledgable, I highly recommend him for all levels of guitar
Ive had many music teachers over the years and I can confidently say that Stelios is among the best. He is extremely passionate and knowledgable about music, and genuinely enjoys digging into any and all material that you want to learn. Whether you want to learn a new song, work on your own songwriting, or dive into music theory, Stelios is always attentive and ready with encouragement and constructive feedback. He can very quickly figure out how to play a song after listening to it once or twice, and can always break it down so that its easy to learn. If youre interested in songwriting, Stelios often accompanies you and will provide feedback that fosters both growth and independence. He is able to pinpoint both your strengths and your areas for improvement, and tailors his lessons to meet your needs as a student and a musician. Stelios makes his students feel comfortable immediately with his warm, sincere personality and his hospitality. It is clear that Stelios truly loves music of all varieties, and truly loves to teach and learn. These qualities, among many others, make him a rare and excellent guitar teacher.
I take piano lessons from Michael. He is a great teacher, particularly because he customizes his lessons to suit the students' skill levels and musical goals. He prepares material ahead of class and has a nice structured approach that I find helpful in developing a good feel for the piano. It's great that he focuses on important technicals like tempo, playing technique and theory, and his lessons are well-rounded, with just the right amount of time spent on each aspect. I like that he is flexible with both scheduling and the curriculum, and willing to tailor material to what I am interested in. He also helped me pick out an excellent piano within my budget, which was very helpful. Overall, a great experience, and definitely recommended!
My 10-year-old son started taking bass lessons from Wayne three months ago. I couldn't be happier with the progress he has made. Wayne has stressed how to properly squeeze each note, hold his fret hand and sit with correct posture. In addition, my son is now reading basic sheet music. He also knows the names of most of the notes on his fretboard. Wayne always provides music lessons that he writes out personally and also provides associated MP3 audio files. My son is able to practice the lesson along with an audio track that serves as reinforcement. Wayne even transcribed a song that could be played with the actual music track. Wayne has an encouraging and positive attitude. There is a genuine excitement and passion in his teaching. I highly recommend.
Kevin is a pro, through and through. I couldn't ask for a more patient, knowledgable teacher! I've taken lesson with Kevin for a few months now, and my music theory and guitar playing have benefited substantially. Kevin always has ideas for exercises to help reinforce a concept we're working on. Despite his incredible expertise, he is always patient and approachable, never pretentious or "over-my-head". I only wish I'd started taking lessons with him sooner! I would 100% recommend Kevin.
Miranda is an excellent teacher. So far she has worked with me to create a lesson style that works for my specific goals, she has provided many exercises for me to use to warm up my voice and to increase range, and has explained to me a lot about the mechanics of singing. She is also a warm and welcoming person, and from the very first lesson I felt completely at ease. I definitely recommend her as a teacher for any age (I am 24) or level.
Kino is really patient with me, and her space is really clean, bright and large, highly recommend her for piano lessons.
I began working with Chris around four years ago, as a freshman in college seeking a specific higher music education--I have been a musician my entire life, and desire education on a conservatory level, but do not actually want to attend conservatory. I have found that most music teachers of any kind have their specific way of teaching, usually a combination of traditionalism and their personal methodology. This doesn't work for everyone, and in my opinion, is often the reason why most kids don't stick with piano lessons. In my case, Chris and I had coincidentally similar experiences learning music--we both have strong ears that we could use to "cheat" as it were. I wanted to dig deeper into theory and find someone who understood how I heard and thought without judgment so that they could help me advance--Chris was exactly that person. We started ear training lessons regularly at my apartment and have not stopped since! He is such a pleasure to be around, extremely knowledgable without forcing anything on you, and extremely perceptive which makes him a fantastic personalized teacher. I am truly lucky to have met him, and would recommend him to any music student from a beginner to a seasoned pro looking to brush up and stay on their toes!
I recently started working with Daniel and have been really pleased with my experience thus far. He is an enthusiastic and patient teacher with a love of piano that is inspiring to be around. After each lesson I feel motivated to practice and continue learning.
Peter is the most inspiring music teacher I've ever had in my life! I'm 30 years old and have always wanted to play guitar and he was able to teach me exactly what I wanted to learn without bogging me down with the music theory that i wasn't interested in. he's an amazing player and has been generous in getting me tickets to his shows in the past. He's also a great recording engineer and I can't wait to work with him more!
I am writing this review as a Colleague. While I have not taken lessons with Candice I know as a seasoned Professional Musician and Teacher myself what makes excellence: and excellence is what Candice's Music Studio offers. Candice is Passionate, Crafted at her Art, and an Excellent Leader and Team Player. It takes a lot more than a Degree in Music to be a great Teacher. You have to have Talent,Heart as well as intellect, instinct and: a desire to constantly be expanding your own horizons while lifting those up around you. Candice has those things in spades. Professionally, I refer Students and Professionals to Voice Studios all the time especially in NY. I would not hesitate to send my own Students to Candice's Music Studio. Sonia has made learning to play the piano so much fun for this 57 year old who hasn't played the piano in over 40 years. She makes it informative and a lot of fun. I'm learning music theory! I look forward to practicing because she chooses pieces which challenge me to practice but don't overwhelm me. But the best part of my lesson is watching and listening to her play the piece I'm working on. She's an incredible pianist. I HIGHLY recommend Sonia.
