Carlos Gastelum is a superb, experienced architect, who is familiar with the complexity of working in NYC apartments, including permitting with the Dept of Buildings, working with Coop Boards, and supervising contractors. He capably rescued the sale of my old, large UES Manhattan apartment, which required updated permitting and new architectural plans to be filed with the DOB to comply with legal requirements for a 2-apartment combination. This had to be completed in record time in order to retain an all cash buyer. Not only did Carlos get the job done before the deadline, he provided an outstanding outcome at a reasonable cost. While no one else was willing to touch this project, Carlos knew exactly what to do and how to get it done.
Also, I learned that he has depth experience designing high-end custom cabinetry and furniture, including for celebrity clients. I am deeply grateful that Carlos was willing to take on my case. He is professional, gracious, creative, and a superb communicator. I give him my highest recommendation. He is the best. Thank you Carlos !!

Incredibly skilled architect with an eye for design! We reached out to Studio Gastelum to help us with the redesign of an old 70s home with a great deal of quirks. My husband and I are both very visual people and really had a hard time figuring out how to maximize a odd kitchen to make it more modern and functional. We reached out to Carlos to talk through how we'd like to use the kitchen and he came up with an AMAZING rendering that literally made the kitchen come to life and also other design aspects of the home that kind of blew our minds. We've worked with other contractors on this project, but what sets Carlos apart is he thinks of everything from a 360 degree perspective - the layout of appliances, the flow of the entryways, our desire for it to feel more open, the materials to use for high traffic areas, tiles that create more light reflection. Carlos' experience in designing everything from apartments and houses, to restaurants to commercial spaces really adds value because he's pretty much done it all. He provided us with vendors to explore in our price range, he's advised us on different appliances at different price point... you name it, he helped us with it. He's literally an all-inclusive architect and we are so beyond grateful to be working with him. We cannot recommend him enough!
