She was able to help my fiancé and I choreograph and teach a dance to our quick tempo wedding song, in a short amount of time, to a novice like me.

Details: Two (ex. me and my partner) • First dance • What my teacher recommends • No, I do not have choreography in mind • No experience • At the pro’s location

I took swing and lindy class with Stephanie as well as private and semi private lessons with her. She makes the class fun and easy especially if you have no dance experience. Her patience stems from her good nature and humor. I learned so much with her not only from her knowledge of dance but her sincere enthusiasm for dance as well as enthusiasm for teaching it. She never gives up and her choreography and music are fun. She is an excellent teacher who cares and she gives her students all the tools and time needed to excel. Highly recommend Stephanie. You will have fun learning in her class. Sue

I had the opportunity to work with Stephanie as my instructor for both group classes and private lessons as well. My dance skills developed substantially as I worked with Stephanie. She is very passionate about dance and knows many different styles. I highly recommend Stephanie for dance instruction at all levels. Warren

Stephanie has the gift of being able to convey complicated dance moves by breaking them down, slowly and chronologically, into small components, making them learnable, even to a newbie. The rare combination of both an amazing teacher and dancer, with a lot of patience thrown in. She truly enjoys what she does, which shines through! Highly recommended.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

There is a constant continual education in my field. Dance is ever evolving into new forms, new styles etc. I continue to take classes by top notch instructors as well as workshops and private lessons. I am part of two different performance troupes in which I learn my part (mainly the follow) as well as the leads part so that I can be of help to those students who are having difficulties. Plus the choreography that I learn I keep in a file to add to choreography that I put together for wedding couples and students.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I came to NYC for acting and all along have dabbled in several kinds of dance. Ballet when I was younger, Drill Team/Flag Corp in High School; Israeli Folk Dance Troupe in Israel, and then Dance/Movement through college, and acting schools. I then started Partner dancing in 2000 and within a year I had people asking me if I was an instructor. It was a path I was meant to take and enjoy!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I like my customers to have an idea of what they want to learn (even if it doesn't make sense to them - it will to me). Also if they know their schedule ... this just makes it easier for me to get them the best possible schedule. If the customer has questions for me to better explain what I can do for them and their partner (understand that you do not need a partner to dance/move) And lastly my biggest advice for my potential clients - only get in touch with me if you are looking to have some fun while learning how to move and dance!
