Admittedly, I have never been a client of "Dog's Best Friend", but I have been Matt's mother since birth. I can attest to his responsible nature and his true passion for pups. He has been caring for dogs from a young age and was an engaged, diligent, and loving caretaker of our family's Golden Retriever, Pappy. I can verify that he is a very good boy and that your pup will be in great hands.:)Jan 2, 2015
Chuckie has absolutely loved the walkers that he's had (and he doesn't love everyone :). For me, it is peace of mind to know that he is in such good hands when I'm not there. I have a hectic schedule that is constantly changing and they are great about cancellations, last minute stuff and changes to the schedule in general. The prices are a bit higher than some, but to me these things make it worth a little extra. Everyone I've dealt with has been responsible, flexible and true dog lovers. They get both mine and Chuckie's stamp of approval.Dec 31, 2014
They've been great with my Italian Greyhound, Maurice. We've had two different walkers over the time that we've been with them and they have both been great. Caring and detailed.Dec 12, 2014
Matt and his walkers have been taking care of my Pom, Roxie, for close to three years now and they are fantastic! Their flexibility with regard to schedule changes is ideal for me as my schedule changes constantly. Very reliable and I highly recommend them!Nov 18, 2014
My wife and I have used DBF for over two years for our little yorkie. We've been pretty pleased with the service. Our walkers were polite and friendly, and generally punctual. Reasonably priced too. The owner Matt would always be willing to take time on the phone to discuss any concerns or specific instructions we had. Good choice overall!Nov 13, 2014
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Our standard rates are $15 for 15 minutes, $20 for 30 minutes and $40 for an hour. We're not out to price gouge, so discounts are available if you're getting multiple walks per day. We also offer a "Pay Up Front" option which provides a discount as well. Our rates are slightly higher than some providers. This allows us to offer the consistency of one provider per client, the flexibility to adjust walk times/days and accommodate last minute requests, the safety and security of walking one dog at a time and the convenience of not charging for last minute cancellations. The latter normally cancels out the slightly higher, cost per walk.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?* I am currently enrolled in the Animal Behavior College pursuing a certification in obedience training. * I am an MBA candidate at the Zicklin School of Business in Manhattan.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was laid off of my job marketing bands and records in the music business in the wake of the 2008 financial crash. I had always loved animals. I had always wanted a dog but never had the time. What better opportunity to scratch my canine itch?! When job offers started coming in, the idea of going back to an office seemed unbearable. Bosses wag their fingers at you when you walk in the room. Dogs wag their tails. The latter is a much better feeling. :) I saw a definite gap between the larger providers that were structured and consistent and the independent providers that had more of an intimate, family feel. I wanted to create something that was the best of both worlds. Detailed, highly structured and organized, yet extremely personal.
