Introduction: EDUCATION M.A. French Literature, Sorbonne, Paris. M.A. American literature, Sorbonne, Paris I have extensive experience teaching French to native as well as non-native speakers and have gone myself through the process of aquiring a foreign language in my adult life. In the 10 years that I been teaching, I have had the opportunity to : - create a wide array of original material - train adults for DELF and TCF exams - train students for the A.P. French exam and the international baccalaureate - provide tutoring services to native and non-native students and - help adults gain confidence and fluency with conversational French - design and implement an immersive curriculum for preschoolers - create teaching materials for the Q-Talk method (an image-based approach to language), My passion for language has led me to create a variety of educational materials such as lesson plans and exercises, language-based games and flashcards and a one year blog : "Le Mot du Jour", where I would post a word a day along with an illustration, quote, audio source and a definition. Like you, I have been through the complex process of acquiring a new language as an adult. To this day, it is one of the most enriching adventures I have gone on. No matter your goal, I hope that this journey into a foreign idiom may provide you with both a life-skill and an opportunity to discover as much about your own mind.

French Lessons

Zoe is a wonderful teacher and I can’t say enough good things. She tailors each lesson to the student and teaches though conversation and storytelling, and provides supplemental materials for study between each lesson. She makes it easy to learn complex grammar concepts and vocabulary. I learn more quickly with her than I do any other method, and I’ve tried Rosetta Stone, high school and some university courses. Each lesson leaves me confident and excited about my progress. I’m so happy to have found her and recommend her to everyone of any level looking to improve their French. Merci Zoe!

Zoe taught weekly French lessons with my daughter's (ages 7 and 10) whom have never spoken French before. Zoe was incredibly patient, kind, professional, and thoughtful and she made learning a challenging new language so much fun for my girls. They LOVED it and Zoe. I highly recommend Zoe if you want to learn French or if your kids do!

Zoe is an amazing teacher! Her love of the French language, her sensibility to her students' needs, and her sense of humor all make the lessons fun and enjoyable. She will custom-tailor the lessons depending on what the students require and their level of proficiency. She is a real pleasure to be with and even has devised some very cool games to help with the learning. I warmly recommend her!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

$60/ hour (which includes access to materials, homework correction and support outside of class time)

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I adapt to each customer and create virtually all the material I use : lesson plans, handouts and homework as well as language games. I try to engage students with a variety of resources. The key to acquiring a language and retaining vocabulary is to multiply the angles one will approach a language from. How one’s mind and memory works is the backbone of my lesson plan. At the end of each class, I send students personalized class notes with the vocabulary and grammar / conjugation points that were covered in class. Ultimately, my approach relies on giving students the tools they need to become self-learners. I assess their strengths, weaknesses and learning style so as to equip them with a personalized array of tricks to explore the language on their own and become resourceful and confident learners outside the classroom.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

M.A. French literature, Sorbonne Nouvelle M.A in American literature, Sorbonne Nouvelle Printmaking and drawing (studied for 4 years) Classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles (Hypokhâgne, Khâgne)
