Introduction: Fully Vaccinated Hi my name is Nancy and for my little guitar stars I am Miss Fancy-Nancy :) I work with kids 25 years. I adore kids and doing this job you must love kids and have lots of patience besides the knowledge that is required. When I start teaching a new student I ask the students what ‘s their favourite tunes. By teaching them a song that they like it, it’s an inspiration for them to practice more! My goal is to make them love music! Try me for one lesson and I guarantee that your kid will learn how to play a tune from the first lesson and will start reading music immediately!!!

We are so happy to have discovered Nancy through Thumbtack! Our 15yo daughter who has been playing guitar since age 8 hit it off with Nancy right away. Transitioning from one teacher to another was potentially tricky- but over the weeks we could see that Nancy’s upbeat, methodical approach to learning music was really having a tremendous effect on my daughter’s guitar playing. We requested an emphasis in classical guitar , which Nancy is able to deliver, but she mixes it up with popular music , which my daughter appreciates. There is a definite improvement in my daughter’s skills! Not only does she pick up the guitar and practice longer, but she is also enjoying the whole process of creating a beautiful sound more. Nancy has an impressive training background and full musical career here in NYC - yet she manages to make herself available for home lessons which is super convenient for us. Could not be happier!

My 8 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons for 4 years, 3 of which have been with Nancy. It’s plain to see why she has been requesting Nancy for her instructor since the first year she played with her. Nancy is an incredible guitarist who is patient and great with kids. My daughter looks forward to her lessons with her. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed seeing how much my daughter’s self-confidence has risen and her appreciation for music has increased. Most of all, it’s wonderful to see how much her skills as a guitar player have improved. I’m sure her fifth year of guitar lessons will be with Nancy as well.

My daughter has been taking lessons with Nancy for the past 3 years. Initially her lessons were in person and now they are temporarily via Zoom due to the pandemic. From the start, I have been blown away by her instruction. She is professional, kind, motivating, and truly makes guitar instruction fun while teaching difficult concepts. My daughter not only learned to read music easily but she is already finger picking and using a metronome and she's only 7 years old! Nancy makes it easy on me because I don't have to force my daughter to practice - my daughter wants to do a good job to show Nancy how much progress she has made from week to week. Also, Nancy chooses really accessible music that my daughter loves. I highly recommend Nancy and feel so fortunate to have found such an incredible guitar teacher and amazing musician to teach my daughter to play. On a final note, I was not sure how Nancy's lessons would translate over Zoom when my daughter was used to being face-to-face. I couldn't be more impressed by Nancy's ability to teach in a remote setting. From tuning the guitar over Zoom to playing duets over Zoom to teaching complex finger placement over Zoom, it has always felt like she is right here in our living room. She is truly a special teacher and we are lucky to have found her.

Nancy Gkoudinaki is a very talented musician, performer and teacher. She is driven by her passion for music when teaching her students whom she cares enormously about are constantly progressing and learning something new during every lesson. My 2 sons have been under Nancy’s tutelage as an experienced guitarist since kindergarten. While teaching my boys Nancy demonstrated extreme patience and kindness. She taught them how to read and write music; she taught them chords and how to use the metronome in order to count the correct rhythm of the songs they were playing. All Nancy G. cares about is teaching all her students properly combining her method with fun tunes, classical and pop-rock style. Having demonstrated these qualities I highly recommend Ms. Gkoudinaki as a capable guitar instructor for your children.

Nancy was very patient with my son’s first guitar lessons when he was young and she pushed him to practice and try his best always. She always brought so much energy to each lesson and made everything fun!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Various packages

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my clients are beginner kids age 4 years old and up , but also in my 25 years of teaching I have experience with adults too.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Friedrich Nietzsche said “Without music, life would be a mistake” Parents should think about what kind of teaching philosophy they are looking for in music lessons. Lots of teachers in NYC have mighty degrees and bios. This does not mean they are great teachers. In my humble opinion a teacher must have these type of qualities in other words the total package: of course have degrees in music , Be experienced, be inspiring, be kind, and certainly reliable. A music teacher must be able to connect with the student . This is extremely important. These early music lessons are the foundation of how a student will look at music later in life.
