Craftsman / Farmhouse,
Rustic / Southwestern,
Blane Charles is an extremely talented interior designer. Before Blane came on board, PHE at 211 E 13th street was getting modest attention at best. Blane was able to transform the space using what I would consider to be a very limited budget. He was extremely positive the entire time going out and selecting the best furniture possible given the financial constraints. After the furniture arrived and was set up with Blane's direction the apartment was given new life. We had already been on the market 45 days and were looking at another 100+ days to get someone to offer an acceptable price to the owner. Blane even added accents out of his own personal collection to spice the place up even more! After staging we received offers within 30 days and had a signed contract within 45 days! It is with great pleasure that I recommend Blane Charles without reservation.Feb 11, 2015BCD (Blane Charles Design)'s reply
"Thank you Gil for giving me the opportunity to use my keen eye to enhance and help sell this complex space. It was a delight working with you for Douglas Elliman. And as you know, I'm always up for a good challenge!"
Helped me by connecting me to a designer moving forward! Thanks man!Oct 16, 2019VerifiedBCD (Blane Charles Design)'s reply
Thank You so much! I’m here for you!
Had the pleasure of working with Blane Charles, back in the fall of 2014, on two projects... Organizing clothing & assisting with a small start up business ( which included a business card design / website design). Mr. Charles was instrumental in my process. He is very organized, very immigative and open to suggestions.. My only mild issue was that Mr. Charles was tarde on two occasions. Otherwise , he was a joyJan 15, 2015BCD (Blane Charles Design)'s reply
"It was a pleasure working with you Chris, and having the lucky pleasure of sampling your gourmet delights after each session was icing on my cake! Looking forward to your update!" Much Gratitude, BC

There is only one way to describe Blane. He is a magician. Not only was he able to transform a highly unorganized, cluttered Brooklyn size (pretty small) apartment into an efficient, warm, comfortable and happy to come home to living space, he did it without making us (two semi-hoarders 😊) feel upset or pushed to part with items we had been holding onto for 20 years. Blane has an eye for comfort and design. He is happy to listen to your opinion and if he disagrees clearly explain why other options might work better. His warmth and kindness come through so well making the transformation of your living space into a journey. We can’t speak highly enough of him. Thank You so very much! It’s truly an honor and a joy working with you both and your lovely cat Lucy!
Blane Charles and I have been working on sprucing up my apartment for a few months now. We have made tremendous progress. Blane is very easy to work with. He is a pleasure to have in my home. Blane is a good listener and understands that the client needs to be heard. He never pushes his ideas on me and when I have some odd ideas he is able to very diplomatically steer me away from a disaster in the making without my ever knowing it. I consider Blane to be reasonable for his expertise. His knowledge base and connections in the design world are vast and very valuable for his clients. In my case, we went from a blah bedroom to a Moroccan-influenced style by changing up a side table, adding a headboard, recommending solar shades instead of dust-collecting mini blinds, and adding a pendant light. Just those few changes of less is more made my bedroom romantic and exotic. Now we are working on storage management and closet reorganization. I am confident the progress we will make in this space-enhancing process will benefit me for decades to come. I would highly recommend Blane.Mar 26, 2016
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I offer a sliding scale for my services to accommodate my wide range of clientele. If I'm working on a long term project, we agree upon a rate and draw up a contract for that project. When I work with students, or someone in a lower income bracket, I offer a group rate or two hours for the price of one hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I'm very personable, a joy to work with, and come with a roll up my sleeves let's get to work attitude! I'm committed to walking away having you feel like you are on top of the world, because you are! To get started with this exciting partnership, we have our clients fill out a brief survey and email it back to us, so that we can get to know them a little better before our first consultation. For each consultation we set our intention at the beginning so we are all on the same page and proceed from there. We then catagorize what to keep, store, donate, or trash. At the end of each season we check in and refresh, edit, repair, and update your wardrobe and or interiors.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Yes, I am continuing my education as a student at The Fashion Institute of Technology.
