Julia Hananel

Julia is an enthusiastic piano instructor with university-level teaching experience, who works with students seeking serious piano instruction. All ages are welcome. Primary method book used for beginners is Nikolaev Russian School of Piano Playing, combined with classical repertoire assignments and technique exercises such as Czerny. Advanced students receive repertoire, technique, sightreading and theory training in lessons. Personal practice and preparation for the weekly lessons in expected. Julia believes music changes lives and aims to inspire her students to pursue their musical passions. She has training in jazz and musical theatre piano in addition to her focus of classical piano, and draws from her well-rounded background when making repertoire assignments. With her experience teaching applied music theory courses at NYU, Julia believes theory is crucial in learning piano strives to make music theory accessible in lessons.
