Before starting with NY Music Center I had tried several music schools and teachers. It is very hard to find a school which has great, passionate and professional teachers, and at the same time teachers that can transmit this knowledge and curiosity to children. My daughter is very responsible for her age. She does her homework alone (4th grade), reads a lot and loves learning, but we struggled to find a piano teacher that could spark the same interest in her that she was already showing for other academic subjects. At NY Music Center the teachers are not only great professionals, but also great teachers: they have the perfect balance between being rigorous (making sure that children ultimately learn and make efforts to improve) and creating a caring and fun environment. I had found one or the other, but never both mixed together in such an harmonious way. My daughter loves her classes, her technique is improving in giant leaps and loves rehearsing/doing her piano homework at home now. The management of the school is also great: always trying to find new things to do and genuinely caring about the children that attend school: their well-being and their learning. I would recommend NY Music Center 100%.

I take online piano and music theory lessons. Ive been working on ABRSM exams (but its not just about the exams).Anyone considering taking lessons from here can rest assured that theyll learn from highly qualified and highly skilled instructors active in impressive careers. So theres no doubt about that. What I think makes this school special though is simply the care they have; every faculty member Ive worked with treats it as more than a job. They really try to grow students musical interests and dont just talk about how to play notes right, for example. They explain why its all important and demonstrate whats cool and pretty about the music. Besides getting excited to perform in front of an audience during a recital, I get excited just to meet my teachers. I see them as out of this world amazing artists who are the best in their fields, but then I meet them and realize theyre still normal, nice people haha. Anyway Im willing to fly out to NYC for a couple days for a recital just to get to do that because thats how much I like it.

I have always wanted to learn piano and my sister recommended NYCPA and I have not been disappointed. It has been an incredible experience so far and to be part of this organization, I continue to learn new things on a weekly bases, and I am always looking forward to my lesson. I appreciate the whole team being patient, amazing and all around excellent.
