Introduction: Originally from Illinois, Peter Groch studied piano performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he won first prize in the ISMTA Collegiate Piano Competition. After graduation, he began teaching, accompanying and performing throughout Chicago. Mr. Groch went on to earn a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma, where he was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship. Dedicated to the art of teaching, Peter was selected to participate in the Post-Graduate Teaching Fellowship at the New School for Music Study for the 2019-2020 school year. He currently serves as a faculty member at NSMS, and is an administrative assistant with the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy and Piano Magazine.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Groch is an active composer of pedagogical works. He values creativity in piano lessons, and follows a curriculum that inspires complete musical growth. With over 10 years teaching experience, his primary goal is to foster a life-long love of music in each of his students.
