When taking lessons with me, you can expect direct and honest feedback, mixed in with smiles and laughter! As a Steinway Educational Partner with years of teaching experience, I make it a priority to create a healthy and productive growing space. I build personal relationships with my students and balance my high standards with a positive and light-hearted lesson environment. I work with all ages, with a specialization in adult learners (including adult beginners). Since the initial founding of Veit Piano Studio, I have carefully curated a team of teachers who share my teaching philosophy. All our teachers are extremely qualified with graduate degrees in piano, and have years of teaching experience in all ages and levels, from young children, to adult beginners, to advanced players. Julia is a wondeful piano teacher. She provided clear communication of concepts and technical skills for the few months I took lessons. I was playing music I never would have been able to sort out otherwise. I had to discontinue lessons due to other priorities, but would like to start back up once I have time!

I absolutely loved my experience at the Viet Piano studio.As a NJ commuter working in NY, I had plenty of options, but only gravitated to this one.Julia takes on a holistic approach to classical piano pedagogy. From music history highlights that gives context for the pieces you learn, music theory, sight reading and piano technique. She takes into consideration your tastes and interests, also, with permission, will introduce music slightly outside out of your comfort zone to become a more rounded musician. It took me a minute to appreciate Bartok, but grew as a pianist because of it.She encourages each of her students to go for musical expression (after learning technique), and to partake in musical discussion. Since Julia is an active listener, the conversations are engaging, and you will have great takeaways from them.The studio is in a warm and cozy decorated, fully finished basement, with a tuned, warm sounding grand piano, a white board for explanations, and and a piano keyboard for accompaniments.Julia offers online zoom classes as well, and they are still incredibly effective (In person classes are always best if possible)The progression I made at this studio still surprises me, since at first I thought learning music was beyond me. If you genuinely want to learn piano, you won't regret going to Veit Piano Studio.Julia is an incredibly talented pianist and teacher, with an incandescent style that immediately catches the ear with precision yet with an emotional depth that just naturally moves you. Nothing short from stellar, 5/5 stars.PS. The studio is right next to Central Park and is in a calmer part of New York City. Why not take a stroll at the park, maybe stop by one of the many eateries around the area after taking a lesson.

I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson to all new students, which can take place in-person or online. After the trial lessons, I offer monthly and semester lessons at the following price per lesson: 30 minutes - $65 45 minutes - $85 60 minutes - $100
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free trial lesson, during wish I will assess your current level and goals. At the end of the lesson, I will give practice instructions and resources appropriate to your goals.
