Introduction: I am a current NYC DOE elementary school teacher available for tutoring. I am a Columbia University graduate, and hold two Masters degrees in Childhood Education and Reading Specialist. I specialize in multi-sensory instruction, for children with language based learning disabilities.
The Process
Assessment:
Because each child is unique, the process for each individual and their family may vary. Each session starts with an assessment of individual learning style and skill, which helps to guide future instruction. Using various diagnostic tools and assessment, your child will receive an individualized plan, outlining goals and strategies to aid in their success.
Communication:
Communication among tutor, parent, and teacher is a critical piece in the process. Ongoing correspondence helps to build trust among tutor and teacher, tutor and parent, as well as tutor and student. In addition, communication helps to track progress and work towards a common goal.
My belief is that every child can succeed and learn, both academically and socially. I strive to encourage confidence by providing students with the learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social and personal development. My goal is to create an optimal learning environment and provide children with the motivation to become life-long learners.
