Katya is a great tutor who has ways that help me remember vocabulary words for the SAT test very easily, and she is very clear with math concepts that I may be struggling with, or don't understand entirely. She keeps in touch with me at all times, and I am never afraid to ask her any questions. Ever since she has started tutoring me, I always feel confident that I am in good hands, and that I will ace the SAT!Aug 12, 2017
SAT is NO joke! Katya is a laser-focused tutor and helped me get a HIGH score. She actually takes SAT and ACT tests herself and always scores in the 99th percentile. I don’t know any other tutors that do that. She is very smart, but also very cool. We saw each other twice a week for about 5 months before my test. It made a difference of almost 300 points! Use her!!!Mar 7, 2018
As a professional, Katya helped immensely with my memory skills, my reading speed (through speed reading techniques), and also even enhanced my ability to math on the fly (in my mind, without paper and pencil). Her online classes are a wonderful supplement to her face-to-face. I often refer students seeking SAT and ACT prep and she also over-delivers. 5 stars for sure!Jul 19, 2017
Both my son and I had an amazing experience with Katya! She tailored her teaching techniques to make the material more engaging and made my son excited about learning and tracking his improvement after each lesson. Besides providing guidance and helping with practice tests she provided invaluable test taking and memory retention tips. She was very responsive and accommodating, willing to work with our schedules to make sure my son had enough hours of practice before his exam. I highly recommend Katya to anyone looking for SAT tutoring as she is worth every penny.Jul 21, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$150 dollars an hour. No other costs. I allow you to pay as you go, per lesson, so you won't have to pay a large sum upfront and not know what you're getting your teen into. If you want to continue lessons, we continue. If you don't want to continue, you won't be hassled to continue and won't need to lobby for a refund for unused hours or anything. Some parents want to prepay for sessions to secure their spot in my schedule and get a discount. I offer 10% discounts on 10 - session packages.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We typically begin with a phone call where I speak to the parent. If there is a practice test/ neuropsych/ other tests score for me to look at, I ask the parent to send that over. Then, we schedule a trial session. During that trial session, both the child and the parent are present and I demonstrate 2 concepts from math and reading that I will improve client’s scores. Based on the trial session, the client chooses if they want to hire me. If they do, we schedule our next session and a set of practice tests before the real test.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have taken graduate courses in education at NYU and Teacher's College Columbia.
