On one of my earlier weddings back in 2015, a bride said something that really stuck with me and shaped my approach to weddings. While she was gushing over her photos she received, she thanked me for giving them “heirlooms” to show to her future grandkids. I was floored. It put into perspective how important it is to be present for every single moment, no matter how big or small it may be. Every wedding I shoot I can’t help but think “wow, this is probably the only time all of these people will be in the same place at the same time ever again.” And I don’t take that lightly. We contacted Darien Maginn via Thumbtack less than 2 months till our wedding day, and were pleasantly surprised that she was willing and available to take us on at such (in wedding planning standards) short notice. She responded rather quickly despite the fact that she was out of the country, soon to return. For our wedding, she was on time, she was very nice and professional, she was enthusiastically happy to be at our wedding, she was more than happy to stay the whole time till the end. She met the Bride-To-Be a few hours before the ceremony to take photographs of her getting ready. And the photos are absolutely wonderful. In the contract she says that it may take some time to get the photos as she needs to edit them - totally worth it and nothing to worry about as she also sends you a sneak peek of photos soon after the wedding. When we did receive our digital photos (as many as you could ever want) we were so happy as how they turned out! Darien Maginn is an excellent photographer - the photos are exactly what we wanted, and what we were expecting after viewing her website. She is professional, caring, passionate about her work. We wouldn't want anybody else to be our photographer. We'll definitely hire her again for future celebrations.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
One of my initial priorities when in touch with a new client is to get to know them as much as possible. What's their story, how did they meet their partner, and learning about their personalities as a whole. It's so important to me to learn all of the small details, because it helps me capture their love more authentically.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have received an associates degree in photography from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City,and started working alongside established wedding photographers back in 2011 to get hands on experience with weddings.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I picked up a camera once and was never able to put it down.
