After taking my Element TV to get repaired not only could Jim Mcvey not fix it after one year of having it but still charged me the $75 deposit i gave him, claimed it was a consultation fee. After speaking to other people and looking him up it seems this is how he makes his money. He will tell you to give him $75 up front and then call you a few weeks, months or like myself a year later and tell you he couldn't get the part or some sob story. Stay away from Jim Mcvey, i advise all do your research and you'll see for yourself.
Mcvey Electronics's reply
I tell everyone before they leave the money, that it is my minimum bench fee. I also told him that Element was a potential problem from the get-go and he accepted the risk...or so I thought... Yes, my time is how I make money, so I do need to get paid for my expenses and efforts on his behalf. This is the second such complaint in the past 5 years, so my overall batting average is pretty good. Unfortunately only disgruntled people write reviews. This gentleman bought a very "off brand" set ( Element) and I was unable to obtain parts for it. I also spent money on shipping defective so called "refurbished" boards from vendors but was unable to get a fully functional part. None of this mattered to Felix. I wonder if his boss refuses to pay him if he has a bad day at work? The moral of the story is to buy quality, mainstream brands that are more likely to have parts available. I can only repair something if I can get the parts.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am constantly learning new things in order to keep abreast of the latest technology, tools and techniques. There is even more opportunity now for this with the advent of the internet. We used to attend semi-annual classes, but they have been replaced with more frequent "webinars" and email bulletins.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for a service company that has affiliations with manufacturers and has been in business for a long period of time.
