Board and train at a facility
Kathy came to our house and worked with our 6 month old rottweiler puppy. She was very skilled and our dog responded well to her and her instructions. More importantly she gave us advice and recommendations that we have put in place and they are working! I recommend her to anyone who needs help with training their dogs especially those with larger breeds.Jan 24, 2020Verified
We've had one private lesson, so far, with Kathy. She was very personable, and we were really impressed with her knowledge. She worked well with our little Grand-dog (who responded well to her), and my husband, son, and I learned so much in our first hour of training. Over the next 2 weeks we'll be working with our doggy using the training aids she advised us/suggested to get, and we look forward to our next session! Kathy was also very responsive via text and Thumbtack's email, and she arrived on time. We feel her price is reasonable for private/in-home lessons.Jan 27, 2019Verified
Kathleen was wonderful with our dog Buddy, who has separation anxiety and resource guarding issues. She gave us many helpful tips, and we are going to enroll our dog into her training class.Dec 11, 2018Verified
We have had one training session with Kathy and so far, so good. Our dog is a work in progress and Kathy offers a lot of options for our training needs and busy life. I’m very pleased to have located Kathy.Jul 20, 2018Verified
Kathleen put me at ease immediately. She knows her stuff and also loves the animals she works with. Not always obvious with trainers. She didn't judge my crazy runaway dog, just helped me get her back. Easy to follow instructions for me and my dog. Great!Mar 5, 2018Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? The sessions are $100/hr. I space the training out 2-3 times a month and the owner pays for the sessions each time so that they don't have to come up with the lump sum up front. It also gives the owner practice time between sessions and an opportunity to tweak things as we complete the program. There is also a Board and Train program (1 week is $1300, 2 weeks is $1900, fast track Friday-Sunday jump start is $600). Discussing your needs with me, I can guide you as to your option for which program would best fit you and your dog.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to find out as much history on a client's pet as possible. This is a great starting point in getting to root causes for unwanted behaviors. I also like the client to elaborate on what their home life has been and is currently like. This is also valuable information that helps with a resolution plan. If a customer wants more information, they can text me directly at seven one six, six two two, five seven nine zero.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a vast history in the canine field. I started very young training dogs. My first ventures that lasted for some time were training for competition in conformation, obedience, and agility. I attended many dog shows and trials, receiving a number of titles. I have attended many seminars by national and internationally known experts in the field of dog training and behavior. This along with the shelves and shelves of books I have collected and read throughout the years. I have also been involved in rescue for many years, having helped rehome hundreds of dogs. My last 25 years has been working with dog owners to help them obtain a better quality of life with their dogs. From basic obedience to advanced levels as well as a multitude of behavior modifications, I can offer you all my years of experience and expertise.
