Very positive experience. Took longer to begin working than originally expected due to weather and other factors but communicated very well along the way and set expectations that he met. Did several odd jobs - scraping and painting all exterior trim, repointing brick, and a few things inside. Estimate was very reasonable and stuck to that price, and finished work as quickly as I'd expected. His work was of good quality. I strongly recommend - especially if your time table is open to his availability (as he is very busy).
First snow storm of the year 11/21/16, Monday morning when I got up and looked out the window, the driveway was plowed beautifully! Yay... I think I found my plowers forever! :)
Jon did an excellent job building our deck. He completed the job in the time frame he said and was very affordable. I would highly recommend him.
I originally hired Justin to repair a damaged stair structure outside my house and also to tear out and replace some exterior carpeting. He did an excellent job - his work is very sound and I feel confident it will last for years. He did tear out the carpeting, but then advised me that he thought it would be best not to replace it, and explained why. After discussion I agreed. I appreciated that he was willling to tell me that it may not be in my best interests to do something I was prepared to have him do. Subsequent to the staircase work, I also hired Justin to clean my exterior and interior windows, and he also cleaned the window tracks. He did a great job - the windows are very clean and absolutely streak free. This work was a pain in the neck because recent construction on the house has created a lot of dirt and debris, especially in the window tracks, but Justin was very thorough. I will definitely keep Justin in mind for future work. He is reliable, prompt, honest, and thinks creatively about how to solve problems.
This was our first experience using a contractor that wasn't personally recommended or that we had worked with before. Brian was AWESOME from start to finish. Communication is key and he answered every email, call and text message immediately. The consultation was easy and painless - he explained everything he would be doing in detail, the time frame needed and approximate cost before he left the house. We had a ceiling repair, a few wall repairs, most of the interior and trim of the house painted, lights replaced, fans removed, and other small misc. items - I can't say enough about the professional meticulous job that was done! Extremely clean and organized. Absolutely stress free and completed in the time they estimated. It was so nice not to be put on the back burner or have someone "fit us in" during another job. AND my house is beautiful. We will be having Brian and his team back again - they're replacing all our doors and hardware - and who knows what else the future may bring.
I needed some vinyl siding replaced, a new door hung and new aluminum trim installed. All new materials matched perfectly and were installed flawlessly with great attention to detail. I will definitely refer Thomas Renovations to family and friends.
I have hired the Finger Lakes Property Doctor for a variety tasks on my home as well as some rentals that I own/manage. Tasks from roofing repair, windows install, plumbing install/repair and general cleaning and maintenance. I highly reommend the FL Property Doctor. Bob in Farmington.
Rapid Property Management did a really nice job refinishing a simple wood step stool that has been in my family for generations. They were professional and did a really nice job. I am very pleased. Also the work was done quickly and delivered as promised. I will definitely use again for refinishing work.
Amazing work ethic and outstanding craftsmanship. Nathan and Glenn NEVER stop moving. They did flooring, trim, drywall, refinished our ceiling, painting and exterior work. All were excellent. Truly can not say enough good things. Highly recommend to anyone.
We need someone for multiple projects that were long overdue. Randy did a great job on the built in upstairs by the window and the mudroom bench, and he exceeded my expectations in the laundry room. However, we originally requested a quote to include the replacement of our fire door and multiple closet doors, and despite much back and forth, these were not done (but for a couple of doors that do not look great downstairs). We spent far more than we planned for projects that remain undone. He never returned to repair the mudroom trim he removed and somehow our radiant floor in the mudroom was damaged during the bench or door installation.
A very pleasant and competent carpenter; could benefit from taking more time for the pre-job process. Did arrive on time as scheduled and completed work to our satisfaction. What I thought was going to be a door trim replacement (to replace rotted out trim) turned out to be a complete entry door replacement due to the fact that the framing of the door was rotted as well. To be fair, he had mentioned this possibility ahead of time, but I didn't think it was necessary as I thought the framing was part of door trim to be replaced. My only complaint would be that had he come by ahead of time for just a quick stop to inspect the project, determine materials needed, then final-quote the job, he could have arrived with the correct materials and time required to do the job and i'd have given 5 stars. Instead, the quote was loosely handled via text / email with me sending pix of the door frame condition. Project turned out to be more involved when he saw it himself, requiring a quick procurement of a whole new door unit (which cost significantly more than the amount he mentioned before running out to the local home improvement store to purchase door unit & materials). Instead of $240 plus materials ($140 mentioned for door), it was $240 plus a $220 door. This also resulted in an installation done partially in the dark of night as it took more time than planned - finish work and cleanup would probably have been cleaner if done by daylight. A bit of a rush job but as it is just a garage door it will do.
Ed and his crew were able to help us with a super quick turn around on our exterior house painting job. Ed kept up to date on how it was going and answered all my questions. They did leave open garbage bags and got paint all over my garden hose and that is why I couldn't do five stars. Overall I am happy with the job. Thanks Ed and Josh!
Rob did a small gutter repair job. He was timely and responsive and the work was only what was needed and as agreed upon. Thanks Rob.
Superb work. A major repair and repainting job on a large home. The crew was talented and were really great to have on the job. All very concerned with doing it right. We are completely satisfied on this big job. Thanks to all!!
Bill went above and beyond fixing damaged plaster on my ceilings. He gave me experienced advice and help with other issues in my old home as well. He was friendly and professional at all times and I would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends!
Dave has recently done a variety of jobs in my house as I prepare to potentially place it on the job market. It included everything from painting hallways, and bedrooms, to installing light fixtures, lineoleum, and wood trim/molding. I have known Dave as an outstanding student leader at RIT, and also as Manager of Taylor Rental. He is easy to talk with, takes good notes, and has the technical experience to the jobs for which he commits, and commits only to those jobs he can do. Unlike some handymen that I have had in the past, he shows up! And he is on time. Moreover, while Dave may be new to the Handyman profession, he is not new to the exprience of extended home repairs, as evidenced in the beautiful home where he and his family live, done mostly by Dave's renovation skills. Not only is he skilled, but he has the right tools and equipment to do the job properly; if - when working on a job - he sees a repair that needs to be addressed, or some instructions that are counterintuitive....he stops, (calls if need be), texts, or asks. He can juggle multiple tasks: for example, working on a repair, while waiting for the paint to dry. His estimates are pretty accurate - and if not, he lets you know as soon as they come to light. At the end of each day, Dave cleans up and neatly puts equipment and supplies away. Finally, he is trustworthy. My projects required an extended time, and I work during the day. I gave the key to my house and he would let him self in, and out as required each day. I strongly recommend him.
Had our great room, bathroom and hall painted, walls and trim. Mr. Ponder is very pleasant and professional to deal with. Everyone that worked in our house was polite. They did a great job on the painting, staying long hours to attempt to finish in one day. Doing a good job completing a repair to a wall required them to return the second day, but they were in early and finished quickly. They also cheerfully addressed some minor items I had noticed. I am very happy with the quality of the work that was done, and with the professional attitude with which it was done. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a good photo of the work to post due to lighting issues.
Tom was awesome and above all honest. He did beautiful work on my roof and trimmed the whole house! He was friendly and always let me know when he was on his way or if weather was prohibiting him from working. He's a great guy and stuck to our agreement. If you call him for a quote, you'll see the truth in it.
JC Home repair has done numerous jobs for me over the last few years. They have installed new sinks, new toilets, grab bars, ceiling fans, light fixtures. They built a gazebo over my patio and done some electrical work. They took out my counters when I was having new ones installed. They have done painting and trim work for me. They are always here when they say they will be here. They are very neat, there are not big messes when they work. Their prices are fair. I compared them with other home repair companies. Joe, the guy who has done most of my work is nice and friendly but not intrusive. They are my go to home repair company.
My husband and I live in an old farm home. We spoke with two local contractors and niether of them wanted to touch our room due to the walls being old plaster. We found American Construction and Restoration here on thumbtack, Joe arrived within one hour after I sent out a request for quote. He took a look at our walls and assured us it was no problem that his team specializes in restorations of historical home like ours. We decided to hire him and he started work right away, within 30 minutes he had a crew here to support him. Within the same day he repaired all the cracks in our walls and ceiling. By 11am this morning he and his crew had the entire room painted top to bottom, including all trim and doors. He and his crew also put all the furniture we took out back into place for us. Needless to say we are super impressed with the attention to detail and over all customer service Joe brought to our home. We will be using Joe and his crew again!
Rick Mincer - RAM Construction Rick - assisted by his son Richie - worked on a house we bought while we were on vacation in Florida. The house is a 3 BR Ranch on a village lot w/an attached 2 car garage & covered patio. Built in 1964, the house was purchased "as is" and was in the process of being fixed up after sitting unused for around 10 years and having had a roofing problem that caused some interior damage. We had RAM complete some of the water damage work prior to doing some major remodeling in the MBR & Bath. The bath was totally remodeled with all new fixtures and drywall. The MBR received a new sheetrock ceiling replacing the orig. 12" sq tiles and repairs to the walls before redecorating. The Kitchen was gutted and a complete new Kitchen with all new appliances was competed next. In the process of working on the kitchen, the boiler on the heating system failed and we decided to replace all of that system with a new forced air furnace. RAM worked with Main Plumbing & Heating on that project and also supplied temporary heat by setting up some temp electric heat units in the basement. RAM worked for us for 3 months - while we were in Florida - our input was to visit Lowe's and pick out things we wanted and they picked them up & installed them. We're very pleased with Rick's work and plan to use RAM to remodel the 2nd bathroom and do some more work on trim & prep for getting other areas ready for paint, in the next few weeks.
