I have utilized Rochester Dog Walkers as a back-up to my full time dog walker, and for emergency on-call services for my puppy. Although just providing back-up & on call services as needed was not a preferred job for most dog walkers who were looking for full time work, Mark helped me out. He has been readily available and responded as quickly as possible with very short notice - one time a couple hours advance notice only. He is thorough and spent a good amount of time meeting with me initially to discuss arrangements, costs, expectations. It is a great relief to know I can count on him & his staff in a pinch. If Mark can't get here, he has already trained other staff at Rochester Dog Walkers to fill for him so I know there will always be someone I can count on that has been shown the ropes. Also important, he listens, follows and includes the pet owner's instructions in his contracts; he is respectful of the security of your home and always leaves a note to let you know how things went. He's also shared his observations with me which was helpful when deciding timing for potty training, how feedings are going, whether more time is needed for walks etc...I really appreciate his services and feel he went a bit above and beyond to help me out. Thanks so much Mark!! And please extend my appreciation to your staff as well as I'm sure I'll be utilizing their services again too. Kelly Coblio, Customer 10/8/15
Amazing!! What a transformation! We were in desperate need of help when we found Tommy. Our "dream puppy" was a nightmare and we were at our wits end. She was highly protective and we couldn't even let anyone, friends or strangers, into our house. Our kids couldn't invite any of their friends over. Outside she lunged at anything that moved and we couldn't even take her outside for a simple walk before she would try to drag us down the street. We tried a "traditional" puppy class, but while our puppy was perfect in class and knew all her commands, this didn't carry over to everyday life. We talked to so-called german shepherd "experts" and they all said the same thing, but none of these "experts" were able to help us. After spending a lot of time and money on these trainers and providing her with countless "treats" as suggested, nothing improved and as she continued to grow, our puppy was getting worse instead of better. Then we found Tommy. He is a true dog expert and really speaks to the soul of the dog. Everything he said was so different than the other trainers, but after listening to him explain his training philosophy, it made total sense! He came in and worked with our dog over and over again, and even though he whispered to her and we couldn't hear what he was saying, our dog sure did! He was confident and unwavering from the start that he would be able to help her, and we believed that with his extensive training and background he was the person for the job. From just one session with her, we started to see subtle changes in her behavior and after working with her for quite some time, he turned her over to us and the actual changes were amazing. What a difference! We now have the puppy we and our kids always dreamed of and our puppy is the puppy we always knew she could be. She is now calm, confident and relaxed. She is the dog she was meant to be and we know that none of this would have been possible without Tommy. He truly speaks to the soul of the dog and has a deep understanding of how to communicate with her and transitioned that over to us. Even though we are working with our dog now, we still phone and text Tommy with follow up questions and he always quickly returns our call and is happy to hear how we all are doing. So go talk to all the other dog trainers, then do yourself a favor and hire Tommy. You won't be disappointed! P.S. - he never gave her one treat to get her to behave!
I know Deb as a breeder of Dobermans and would recommend her for training, caring for and assisting with your pet either in your home or hers. She is knowledgeable and compassionate, especially "all things Dobie."
I have a two-year-old Australian Shepherd, Scout, who has a ton of energy and a nearly equal amount of anxiety, a recipe for disaster in terms of training by myself. Enter Nathan. Ive had two private lessons with Nathan and then a 10-day board and train. When I dropped Scout off, she was difficult to walk with just a leash and collar and somewhat manageable with a gentle leader or training harness. As Nathan pointed out, she had trouble with self-control and was easily distractible. Nathan spent a great deal of time explaining his methods and views on dog training, he listened to my concerns, and spent time assessing where Scout was. He didnt promise a perfectly trained dog in 10 days or set unrealistic goals for his board and train program. Instead, he explained the importance of his focus on self-control and how that would set the stage for success in her continued training at home and with him. At the end of the board and train program I couldnt be happier with her progress. Shes learned the place command, settles into with complete ease, she knows to wait at a door before walking out, and is all around much calmer at home and away from home. On our first walk after training, my 8-year-old son was able to walk her with just a collar and minimal pulling, which to me is the truest measure of success of Nathans training. I look forward to continuing to work with Nathan and would highly recommend him to anyone considering group or personal training or the board and train program.
I have one year old German Shepherd puppy that I needed to get more individualized training. He was developing some behaviors that I wasn't being successful at controling. In addition, I wanted to strengthen the basic training I had given so that he was more focused and disciplined. I opted for the 2 week board and train program. Almost instantly the behavior changed. OLK9 provided frequent updates on my pet's progress. When training was over, I was given one on one training so that I could continue to reinforce all that my pet had learned. I did have to modify the training to accommodate him being back in the household but I was able to adapt the training to his home living situation. OLK9 did an excellent job. All those typical puppy behaviors were reduced to a point where I could begin to enjoy my pet. I was very pleased with the outcome. I would recommend OLK9 as a trainer and the board and train program is exceptional.
Tori is a friendly and knowledgeable trainer. She is currently helping us though some reactive dog issues with our German Shepherd. Thing are progressing well and Tori has been flexible in scheduling our training sessions. Her love of dogs is obvious and it really shines through in her training methods.
Casey knows her stuff. Not only does she walk my dog, she brings her to the dog park, and provides treadmill therapy. The best part is she went to school for dog training so I ask her advice on behavior changes, too. She has it all covered! Plus, my dog loves her.
Kristen is an absolute sweet heart and a great trainer she not only trains the person and the dog she cares deeply
Some skills can’t be taught including passion, compassion, drive, and integrity. Rebecca is a cut above the rest. Her patience and dedication to everything she does is endlessly inspiring. Her work speaks for itself. My Alfredo (lab/shepherd mix) is a handful. Even local boarding facilities don’t get him. Rebecca does. And he knows it. He’s a better dog because of her. I’m a better me because I can rest-easy when I’m out of town knowing that my boy is in the best care with Rebecca. She treats him as her own. I’ve seen Rebecca around other dogs, too. I’m inspired by and grateful for her very earnest love for dogs. She takes time to carefully listen to each unique owner and then selflessly bonds with their dog(s). She’s steadfast, thoughtful, and consistent. I can’t say enough about her. I can’t recommend anyone more highly.
Wendy is the most skilled and competent trainer I have worked with. In the past six years, I have worked with four different trainers before meeting Wendy. She not only has this calm, reassuring demeanor but also commands respect from the dogs using positive methods. I could not recommend Wendy enough, and would never consider using another trainer again!
Christina watched our 2 dogs and cat while we were away on vacation and we can not praise her enough for the wonderful care she gave them! And she not only took great care of the pets, but she brought in the mail and packages, cleaned up the floors after the snowy dogs, and even fed my birds outside (5 feeders). We would highly recommend Christina!!
I have worked with Lindsay in the dog rescue community and she is a very dedicated and passionate about working with dogs. She seems to have a knack for communicating with dogs.
We have used Nicole numerous times over the past year for in home dog sitting. Each and every time she exceeds our expectations. She treats our fur babies so well....makes sure they are loved, walked and fed. Communicates effectively with us during our trip for updates. Our puppies are so calm and happy when we get home...I'm 100% certain that Nicole gives our puppies the love and caring they deserve while we're away. We'll use Nicole again and again!
