- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My Approach to New Customer Engagements: Welcome and thank you for considering my tailoring and sewing services! Here's how I typically approach working with a new client: Initial Consultation: Discovery Call or Message: We start with a conversation (via call, message, or email) where I get to know you, your needs, and preferences. This could include discussing your style, the type of garments you're interested in, and any specific tailoring requirements you have. Understanding Your Vision: It's important for me to understand your vision and expectations. Whether it's a custom garment, alteration, or a sewing lesson, knowing your goals helps me tailor my services to you. Assessment and Quote: Detailed Assessment: For tailoring and alterations, I might ask for photos, measurements, or a description of the garments. For sewing lessons, I'll assess your skill level and learning objectives. Providing a Quote: Based on our initial discussion and assessment, I'll provide you with a detailed quote that outlines the cost and timeline for the project or lessons. Planning and Scheduling: Setting a Schedule: We'll agree on a schedule that works for both of us. For tailoring projects, this includes fittings and final delivery. For sewing lessons, we'll set a regular time for our sessions. Flexible Arrangements: I understand that life can be unpredictable, so I'm flexible with rescheduling as needed. Execution and Feedback: Tailoring and Alterations: For tailoring projects, I'll keep you updated on my progress. I may require fittings to ensure the perfect fit. Sewing Lessons: Each lesson is tailored to your pace and interests, with hands-on practice and personalized guidance. Open Communication: Your feedback is crucial. I encourage open communication throughout our engagement to ensure your satisfaction. Final Delivery and Follow-Up: Completion: Once the tailoring project is complete or a milestone in sewing lessons is reached, we'll review the outcomes together. Follow-Up Support: I provide post-completion support, whether it's a final adjustment on a garment or additional advice post-lessons. Building a Relationship: Future Services: My goal is to build a lasting relationship with you, catering to your future tailoring needs or continuing your journey in learning sewing skills. Referrals and Reviews: If you're satisfied with my services, referrals and reviews are greatly appreciated! I am committed to providing high-quality, personalized service to each of my clients. Looking forward to working with you!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My Tailoring Journey: Education and Experience With over 20 years of experience in the art of tailoring, I bring a rich tapestry of skills and heritage to my craft. Here's a glimpse into my journey: Cultural and Familial Roots: My tailoring journey is steeped in the rich traditions of Istanbul, Turkey. As a second-generation tailor, I was immersed in this craft from a young age, learning the nuances of fabric and design. Early Beginnings and Hands-On Training: At the age of 15, following our relocation to Rochester, NY, I began working in my father's tailor shop. Under his mentorship, I honed the skills of a master tailor, blending traditional techniques with modern styles. Professional Growth in the United States: My professional career in tailoring began in earnest at 21 when I joined Jos A. Bank. This experience was followed by valuable stints at VON MAUR, where I expanded my expertise in female wardrobe alterations, and Men's Wearhouse. Entrepreneurial Venture: At 27, I embarked on my own entrepreneurial journey, establishing a successful tailor shop in Victor, NY. Running the shop solo for six years, including the challenging pandemic period, allowed me to refine my craft further. Current Ambition: Now at 35, with two decades of tailoring experience, my overall aim is to leverage these skills to their fullest potential. My primary aim is to leverage my extensive tailoring expertise to offer top-tier remote sewing lessons, remote wardrobe consulting, and custom clothing creation, catering to a diverse and global clientele. My goal is to make high-quality tailoring and personalized fashion accessible from anywhere, ensuring every client experiences the perfect blend of style, fit, and convenience.
