Jock was available at short notice for a consult on a co-op I was considering for purchase. His expert knowledge of drain-vent-waste and plumbing systems plus construction costs led to a more precise estimate for reconfiguring a floor plan as a component of the counteroffer. Jock's experience in liaising with co-op Boards, NYC's DOB, and building management companies to facilitate and gain the various approvals and permits for the necessary upgrades is also invaluable. Although the project did not move forward when the offer wasn't accepted, Jock will remain on my speed dial for future opportunities.

We recently contacted Jock for a crisis situation regarding permits and other DOB rules for an apartment that we are renovating. Our coop board, building management company, and the building architects gave us bad information and put us and our renovation in severe financial jeopardy. Jock was great. He responded immediately to emails, phone calls, and showed up the next day to get moving on having our issues resolved. He is knowledgable (and generous with that knowledge), efficient, on top of his game, professional and good humored. His analysis of the situation and strategy is saving us. He also successfully dealt with the malevolent idiot building manager who had to give an approval. Jock may also help us with some layout improvements. We're so glad we found and hired him!

In the process of selling my Manhattan cooperative apartment, I discovered that I had an open permit on a job that was done 8 years earlier. I contacted Jock deBoer, the original architect, and he responded to my message immediately. Jock contacted the contractor on that job, and commenced the process to close the permit. This process ended up taking a number of twists and turns and took almost 6 months to complete. During the entire process, I found Jock to be responsive, cooperative and capable. In the end it became necessary to refile the entire job because the city had lost the original stamped plans. I was concerned that my sale might be jeopardized and now I needed Jock's help more than ever. Fortunately, with Jock's fine efforts and that of the expeditor whom Jock had earlier brought into the process, this was completed in a timely manner. As a result my sale was saved and I was able to close a few weeks later.
I very much appreciated all of Jock's help and support and his commitment of time to this effort. He stood with me and did what was needed to get this done. I also found him very competent and pleasant to work with on the original job. As a result, I heartily recommend deboer Architects.
