- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Here are a few red flags to look out for: LICENSED CONTRACTOR!!! There is no such thing as a contractor license in the state of Ohio. If someone is telling you that they are a licensed roofer, installer, painter, contractor or thumb wrestler, they are lying to you. That's not a good way to start a business relationship, especially with a person who will be working on your home. 50% OFF or BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!!! If a contractor is being fair, they will not have marked up their services up so high that they can give you extravagant discounts or deals. In reality these bogus pricing tricks are not fair to you. CONTINGENT PRICING. Do not let anyone give you an estimate contingent to inspection without inspecting your problem. How does that make any sense? Any honest contractor will itemize your contract and will give you upfront pricing on any possible surprises. INSURED, BUT NOT. Ask to see your contractors insurance declarations page. A lot of Chuck in a truck types will claim anything to get you to buy, ask for the proof.
