Introduction: I think what makes my work stand out is that in that as a math tutor for Akron Public Schools, I have worked with hundreds of students of all grade levels from 4th grade to 10th grade. What I like most about tutoring students is that no two students are alike. Each student brings a different set of challenges with them to the tutoring session. I like being able to meet those challenges and help my students be successful

My sixth grade son was really struggling in Math. Mr. Rowland began tutoring my son in Jan., 2015 and I have seen improvement in my son's Math grades and in his confidence. Mr. Rowland was very patient with my son who basically hated Math by this point. Mr. Rowland worked with him on fractions, per cents and ratio along with some remedial concepts my son had never grasped before in class. Mr. Rowland explained concepts in a way that my son was able to understand. He taught him strategies to use and helped my son have better number sense. Now my son actually attempts his Math homework on his own with out complaining. My son will continue tutoring with Mr. Rowland through the summer and possibly next year as well. . My son also plays sports and Mr. Rowland was flexible with his time to meet our busy schedule. My son met with Mr. Rowland twice a week. Mr. Rowland was always punctual and his lessons were well prepared and followed closely with what my son was learning in class. My only complaint would be that I wish my son would have begun tutoring with Mr. Rowland long before January.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In the education field, we are constantly attending seminars and continuing edication classes to stay proficient. In face we cannot renwew our license unless we have done so.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

By the time a student comes to me, they are often far behind and struggling to maintain a failing grade. When that happens, there are no quick fixes. We must start at the point where the student became lost and progress from there.
