- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Payment: I prefer to be paid monthly and I send out invoices at the beginning of the month through Quickbooks to remind you of payment. If it is not paid by the end of the 1st week of the month I will not hold your time slot because there are other clientele who are interested. Cancellation Policies: Non-emergency cancellations: (vacations, parties, etc) - 48-hour minimum notice. Please let me know of any future absences so that time your can be made available to other students. Sudden cancellations: (sickness, car problems, family/friend emergencies) by 8PM the night before your lesson. Emergencies may be considered at the discretion of the teacher. Emergency, weather: If schools are closed or I am traveling to you for your lesson please assume that I am not teaching. If you feel nervous about incoming weather, please keep in touch and we will determine if the conditions are safe to travel in. Light weather conditions, such as moderate rain or light snow, do not constitute a weather emergency. Emergency, fever: Please do not come to a lesson if you have had a fever in the last 24 hours. If you do have a fever, please let me know by the standard sudden cancellation time (8PM the night before). Lesson canceled by teacher: If for any reason I must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be offered at the earliest possible time. In the event of a missed lesson: If procedure is followed a make-up lesson will be scheduled when possible. If not (for example forgetting a lesson or failing to cancel a lesson in advance) the lesson will be considered forfeit, no make-up will be offered, and payment will be due for the missed lesson at the start of the next scheduled lesson. Failure to produce proper payment at the next lesson will result in dismissal from the lesson. Make-up lessons: You may elect to schedule a make-up lesson that will work for both our schedules in the events mentioned above. Habitual cancellations: Please understand that teaching voice is a full time career. A great deal of preparation goes into creating a specialized curriculum for every student, preparing practice tracks, lesson materials, and maintaining my own continuing education. As such, frequent cancellations may result in a student losing their weekly time slot. In this case, individual lessons may be scheduled up to 2 weeks in advance and these lessons must be prepaid at the time of booking. All prepaid lessons follow the same make-up policies as outlined above. This ensures that you are not paying for missed lessons and also prevents my time from being wasted. Thank you for your understanding.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Normally the first few lessons I try to get to know the student and determine the best instruction according to their needs. I love seeing a student succeed and develop a passion for music! I set goals depending on the level for students to work on in the lesson and at home. I also like the student to have some form of recording device so that they can go home and listen to their session and practice effectively at home. I encourage my students to audition for competitions, local theaters and more to develop their self-confidence and get feedback on their progress. I also like to acknowledge accomplishments to help students desire to progress and make them eager to learn more!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in theater and a Master's in Music Performance with a concentration in Vocal Pedagogy.
