Guy Papa really saved our proverbial bacon. One of our cats had just been diagnosed with diabetes and requires twice a day insulin injections. With a business trip around the corner, our usual sitters informed us they couldn't do shots and I was freakin out. Guy made a prompt in home interview with us days before the trip ! We came back home to two happy fur babies, thanks Guy!

My love of horses since childhood brought me to Devine Gaits Farm in 2011 for horse lessons. I didn't know what that one step was going to do for me as far as horsemanship and ownership. I had very little knowledge or skills with horses or horsemanship. Through my experiences there I went from lessoning to full leasing one of their horses. It is an environment that provides opportunity and feedback for learning. I had many opportunities to lesson, show, trail ride, tack, horsemanship and ownership knowledge. I lessoned until I moved away in 2015. I continue to lesson when I am in town. When my grandson is old enough I will be sending him to Devine Gaits Farm to lesson and learn horsemanship.

Cuddles and Care is the best cat sitting service I have ever used! My cat sitter really spends time playing and loving my cat instead of just changing the litter and leaving. Each visit is a half hour long and she leaves little notes telling me how it went! I normally worry a lot about my cat when I leave but since I've found cuddles and care I feel peace of mind knowing he's in good hands. They always work with my schedule even when I've had last minute requests. Highly recommend!!

Excellent place! I love it! I've learned a lot already. The trainers and students and everyone at the stables are very nice. its a team effort and everyone helps everyone to learn more. I was looking for a place that taught me how to take care of horses and help me prepare for horse ownership and I have to say Ive found that here! the horses are very nice and well mannered as well and give you the right amount of challenge to allow you to grow and learn how to properly ride. Price-wise, it is very affordable, especially for a college-student like myself. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

We took our wild and crazy, chocolate lab puppy Lakota to Gina's puppy training classes. It was our last hope. When we finished the classes we had a well behaved, well-mannered, little lady. all of which we owe to Gina Dias. She is also a sitter and we have used her many times. Lakota loves her and her dog Lady. We highly recommend her in all aspects of training and care. Tom and Janet Delahanty, North Royalton, Ohio

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
