I decided to hire this person to do some lighting replacement for me. He was responsive with the quote and we determined a date/time for the work to be done. I contacted him the day before to re-confirm the time and let him know I needed some additional lighting installations. I indicated that if he didn't have time to do the additional work with the other items that I would like to get a quote for the work. He responded that he would like to do the work but his car broke down and needed to get it running. I asked him to keep me posted on progress on his car. The next morning, which was our agreed day for the work, I hadn't heard from him as to whether he got his car running and if he would be able to make our appointment. I sent him a note asking if he was going to be able to make our appt. to which he responded "I hope so." To me this is an unacceptable response when a customer is expecting you to show up and do work in 2 hours. You need to either commit or cancel and re-schedule. I understand that things happen but you should never leave your client wondering if you are going to show up or not. He never showed nor did he contact me. I have since contracted with someone else to do the work, which was done quickly and at a reasonable cost.
