Needed help last minute (hired about 2-3 days before the actual move) moving from a large house and into a 1 bedroom apartment that is in the back of a large building, up one flight of stairs across town. Movers were friendly and professional. Was told they'd be there between 1-2pm and they came a little after 2:15pm but jumped right into action as soon as they got there. Total move took 2 hours which was what I was quoted.

Kevin and Sean did an awesome job from start to finish. They were on time, worked quickly and efficiently and did everything they promised. Our move was out of state so it required an overnight stay for them still their price was reasonable and no hidden costs. Professional , friendly and trustworthy. I would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks guys!

These movers were incredibly professional and an absolute delight. Both men were very kind and considerate of my belongings (taking the time to be careful with an antique stereo), and even went the extra mile to move some things that I hadn't expected them to. It was a huge help to have them on my moving day, and next time I need movers I'll definitely be hiring them again.

I was very pleased with their work. Very professional guys. There was no damage to my walls or funitures while moving. It took them 10 hours to move an entire home to a home. I think it was a very reasonable time. I will definitely recommend them!

Three wee moving was great. They had a summer special which was awesome but even at regular rate I'd say they are worth every penny. Moving day went smoothly without a hitch. They were very nice in general but super sweet and patient with my 5 yr old son. I would definitely recommend them to a friend and would use them again if I were to move again. They did a great job of moving us and had great attitudes to match.

As a seasoned mover, I have seen the worst of moving companies. Then I hired Pick Up Movers which completely changed my mind. I got a hint of their efficiency when I called them first. Their customer service was very helpful and prompt. Their quote was as good as any other moving company. The best part of their service was the movers. They were so punctual and efficient. The movers were so fast at the packing and loading process. The delivery was made on time and everything was in perfect condition. I am just so happy with their services.

EXCELLENT JOB!! First time using a moving company to move, was a little nervous and didn't know what to expect. The salesgirl, Courtney was extremely helpful and easy to work with, and definitely knew what she was talking about, answered all of our questions and put us at ease. The moving crew was very professional and never stopped working. They made sure all of our items were transported safely from our old home to our new home. They also put down protection for our walls and flooring, I couldn't believe it!!! Andrews definitely made a stressful day way easier!!! I will be calling them for sure next time I move!!

Responsive and flexible during scheduling. The day of our move, the crew showed up right on time, completed the move quickly and carefully, and were just overall so pleasant to deal with. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
