How did you get started doing this type of work?
From studying to working in the fashion industry, I found there was a huge miss in individual style at an affordable level. I was working informally as a stylist to my friends and family, and realized that this was a passion and skill that I wanted to make available to others.
What types of customers have you worked with?
50% - Musicians, actors, writers - Creatives, who need a wardrobe to reflect their character and brand.
50% - Professionals - entrepreneurs, working moms and fathers who want assistance with their wardrobes and/or for special events
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just worked with an artist getting ready for tour - we identified ten different outfits that we mixed and matched from her wardrobe and new pieces. I also customized a blazer for her with a dramatic print on the back. This took a month working with the artist on the entire project.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
1) Identify what it is that you need the most:
An outfit for a specific event? Organizing of your current wardrobe? Purchasing of items to add flair to existing staples?
2) Be honest with yourself and your stylist about what you want to emphasize and minimize about yourself.
3) Keep an open mind - try on things that you wouldn't otherwise, take notes, challenge the way you dress and see yourself
