D&E was contracted to do some stonework repair, he provided a written quote, showed up on time, did an outstanding job on the needed repairs. He cleaned up the area, and we were well satisfied with the work, so much so we referred him to a neighbor that needs some masonry work.

Our home is a 1920 colonial with a brick front porch. I initially hired John to rebuild brick piers that bordered both sides of our sandstone porch stairs. After John did the demo work on the piers, he found that two porch roof supporting brick columns were disintegrating as well. The mortar was so bad that he could lift the bricks and brush the sand off. So John re-quoted me to include the rebuild of the two columns, tuck/pointing and to also add support piers underneath the porch floor. This was all necessary work and not foreseeable until the original demo work was done. John consulted with me about mortar color and was concerned about buying brick that would try to match the original build. All in all, I believe John started work on our home around July 7th and completed August 10th. We were not on any set schedule, and didn't feel I had to be home while John was working. The end result is wonderful, I wasn't sure what to expect, this is the first time we've had any brick work done. Looking at the work in various stages of completion, I was very happy to notice how sturdy the columns were. After he added the supports under the porch floor the floor is totally solid and not springy as it was before. John also took home the iron entrance gate that was attached to our columns, sand blasted it repainted and re-attached it. In a personal sense, John was very easy going and approachable. He was working at our house in mostly 90 degree heat and always had a smile. Don't hesitate to hire him, he is a true mason who is reasonably priced and does top quality work.

John performed brick steps repairs very professionally and I am pleased with the look of repairs. He not only fixed the symptoms (failing mortar) but also figured the root cause (water penetration). I feel that John stands behind his job. He provided warranty, unlike some other brick masons I interviewed for this job.

Repair(tuck pointing ) 5 dollars a square foot up to 10 foot height .above 10 ft is 10$a Sq ft . .removal and replacing brick 10$ a sqft above 10 ft ht 15$.Chimney prices vary from height and difficulty. .
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Going to the customers home and discussing what they have in mind. .and how I can make the project complete. .to the satisfaction they wanted.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Attended the International Masonry Institute. Been in the masonry trade for 20 years.
