- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When I do an estimate I have to take in account, taxes, insurance, driving times, Square Footage, height, paying the helper etc. Do I need tall ladders? Do I need to move/cover furniture? How many different colors will I work with? (The more colors the more materials needed) Will I be painting ceilings? Woodwork? Doors? How many windows, doors? What is the condition of the walls? Are there major repairs? Does the client want me to provide the paint? Are there other professionals working on the site?
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication is the key. I do a walk through and try understand what they want done. Then I send a email with a detail estimate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My dad was a painter, and my main teacher then I was trained by a friend that had 30 years of painting experience.
