I used Cousins Moving Co recently for a one bedroom apartment move within 5 miles. Overall, I was unimpressed as they were unprepared and overall unprofessional. I will start by saying, all of my items made it to my new apartment undamaged and were placed where I asked. Other than this, I do not have many positives about the company.
They were scheduled to be to me at 9, and this was confirmed the day before, saying they would be to me AT 9, there was not an arrival window provided. When they had not arrived by 9:15 and I heard nothing, I called and was sent to voicemail. I left a message and sent a follow up text. Approximately 5 minutes later I received a text they were arriving, and it was still another 5 minutes before they actually arrived. Upon arrival, I received no apology for their lateness and instead was told they were just happy I wasn't mean so I didn't yell at them. It was explained they had to pick up a U-Haul and did not know what time the store opened, so were unable to actually provide a 9 o'clock start time, but never communicated this to me, instead she explained she joked about buying her workers breakfast while they were running late and still never apologized for not contacting me.
The movers brought nothing with them but a roll of saran wrap and a dolly and asked me for multiple basic moving supplies throughout the move that moving companies typically provide such as tools, bags, tape, and other basic essentials. This caused my move to take longer than it should have because instead of simply breaking things down, time was spent trying to figure out how to move them and fit them places. They also left my items unsupervised in my apartment building on multiple occasions, and I witnessed them kicking and throwing my more "durable" items. No moving blankets were used for my furniture or bigger items.
Once the move was done, they attempted to charge me for 4 hours of work. This was at 12:45, so even if they had shown up on time at 9, they would only have done 3.75 hours. Starting at 9:30 meant they only did 3.25 hours of work, and when I mentioned this, I was met with a look of confusion, as if the company had no idea how long they actually worked for, or as if it was not my business to make sure I was being accurately charged.
Overall, they are not prepared to be a moving company yet. The manager is friendly, but the company is obviously very new and not ready for the job they are agreeing to.
