Cathy is serving as my executive mentor. We meet to discuss professional goals, actions steps, ideas I'm thinking about, where Cathy's role is to provide me that objective view and hold me accountable. I call her role "poking the bear" - helping me to see things from all sides. She has helped me see my accomplishments over my career, which I viewed as "just my job," as truely extraordinary. We come to meetings with an agenda that has developed through brief email exchanges between meetings. Agenda includes a balance of positive things that have happened since we last met and the tough stuff - relationships I might be struggling with or outcomes I thought were good that others thought otherwise. I often find myself between meetings when things get tough - thinking how Cathy would help me see all sides. Cathy and I worked side by side crisping up my resume - where she did much of the heavy lifting with the resume setup and final layout. I loved the final product! We are now working together on enhancing my social media presence. Before we break from our meetings, we set the next meeting date, time, location, including top 3-5 needed accomplishments for me before our next meeting. Having the date set, with outlined needed accomplishments, gives me the push I need to stay focused. Cathy's support and professional approach is the recipe I needed for continued success.
